We had biweekly math “pop” quizzes (depending on how you did you got a different level of treat with pop in the name) that if you showed mastery of the level you were individually at, you’d move on to harder math concepts.

Really put me on a path for long term success in math classes.

Shoutout Mrs Wann; you made learning so much fun and were one of the only teachers to really, truly understand each kids’ learning needs.

My 5th grade teacher saw how well I did/how interested I was in our fake crime scene scenario day (basically a series of science lessons that were dressed up as an all-day murder mystery) that she asked me back every year until I went to high school to help her run it for the next group of kids

It’s going to be so fun when it completely backfires on them

Let's call this policy what this is.

It's socialism. It's Leftism. And it's curing actual ills. Righting institutional wrongs.

It's not coming from someone who is infallible, or someone who is always correct.

It's coming from someone who promised to help and is trying to keep those promises.

Selfishly, a 1.5-2 hour route between Phoenix and Tucson would be amazing. Six hours between Phoenix and LA (or even better, San Diego via PHX or Tucson) would be great too. Ideally would also like one up to Flagstaff or Vegas.

Regional routes where the trip time is similar to the drive time have proven to be popular across the country.

If more people get access to these types of routes maybe we can start shifting public opinion on funding longer HSR routes. But people need to see that something benefits *them* first.

Shoutout Amtrak’s new Mardi Gras line already hitting 100k riders!

I really think if we want to be realistic and *actually* make train travel popular, we need to temporarily focus less on pipe dream HSR and pivot to more frequent, reliable regional services like Mardi Gras, Borealis, Cascades, etc

It’s really sad that a lot of them are dying (particularly in the Phoenix area) in our increasingly dry and hot summers/monsoons

Arizona is wild because people will casually have a 200 year old cactus in their front yard

It also doesn’t help that there’s not even a pretext to say that NJ is getting any economic impact from this considering they banned parking so no one is going to stay in NJ and drive to the stadium either

I think she’d make a really good person to have in a cabinet/cabinet-level position post-Trump. Would be nice to get someone in the Oval who’s serious about doing a massive anti corruption sweep that she could help out with

I feel like the only way there might be some semblance of consequences is if a state goes off on their own and starts charging people (ICE agents, perhaps!) with state crimes

I hate that it’s also been seeping into the world of food to describe any *popular* fast casual offerings

I feel like this is going to be controversial, but in the whole NJ Transit ticketing fiasco, I’m on the side of NJ.

FIFA forcing NJT to run special trains during peak commute hours while giving them nothing in return is a massive disruption to operations and imo shouldn’t be subsidized by NJ.

It’s really crazy how so many people don’t understand their issue is with FIFA and their stupid decisions

There were a few years as a kid I got the nasal mist instead of the vaccine at my pediatrician. I think there were supply shortages of the actual shot or something so they were rationing to have it for people who couldn’t get the mist due to allergies or whatever? Much prefer the shot personally

I love living in the delusion that 85-90° in mid to late April is unseasonably warm for Phoenix

Decrying the lack of good urban planning in the US by saying that we should have built huge NFL stadiums that are used for their primary purpose less than ten days per year in the middle of our downtowns.

Make it make sense!

The passionfruit zero sugar monster is a problem.

I have maybe two energy drinks per day at most (so within the recommended 400mg limit) but it’s definitely something I get way too often lol

Sometimes I get a big urge to try and dive back into worldbuilding (specifically with NationStates, but that’s only fun with friends) but it always peters out pretty quickly.

Love seeing content from people who can keep it going tho

I’m intrigued to see if the AZGOP is going to nominate someone sane or if they’ll go for their usual TPUSA lunatics for State Treasurer

This is the first national election cycle since I became eligible to vote in 2016 that Arizona has not had a US Senate seat on the ballot and I’m so thankful for that
