Private companies that sign contracts to deliver public services and then fail to do so should never be allowed to pay dividends to shareholders. A shareholder is a company owner. A company owner who takes public money, doesn't deliver, but takes profit, should be prosecuted.

This was one of my favourites way back in the ‘90s!
Just watched my first film of @ljmumasff.bsky.social Liverpool John Moores University MA Short Film Festival. A great looking programme this year, check it out online, free:

Physical Media will never die! The one I’ve been after for ages was Electra Glide in Blue. Ended up finding it for 50p in a local charity shop.
Imported German blu-rays is the way I seem to have had to go quite often the past few years. This must be the one time I’ve bought one and a UK release hasn’t been announced shortly thereafter though.
Mate’s birthday tomorrow. Think he’ll like this one.
Les Aventuriers De L’Arche Perdue
Obviously there are more graphically impressive ones since, but nevertheless Tetris remains the single most perfectly and ingeniously designed video game ever made.
My eyes aren’t 4k so can’t see the point (pun unintended).
Mask-off corporate bootlicking that causes these fucks to junk the most vulnerable members of their audience at the first sign of resistance aside:
Vast majority of people drive irresponsibly in built up residential areas. The speed limit isn't a target. If a child runs out into the road and you're doing 30 mph down one of those roads, it's on you.
The image is a recruitment flyer for a research study - the wording states: Participants Needed. Are you a parent or caregiver of an autistic child aged 8-18? Do you have views about their screen use? Complete a short survey to help us understand more about the role of media in their lives. It will take less than 20 minutes and your answers will be anonymous. You can also provide your email address to be entered into a competition to win one of ten Amazon vouchers (closing date 30th April). There is a QR code to follow, and the researcher's email address is also given.
My friend is currently recruiting for her PhD - if you are a parent / guardian / caregiver of an autistic young person (aged 8-18) and have views on their screen use, please consider taking part in this short survey.

You’ll feel like you’re there for years, but it is fun.
“The owls are not what they seem.”
Teacher here. It's clear that most kids only ever see each other in school. They're either overexcited in the presence of their peers, or they're overwhelmed by it. Let your kids out of the house, they need unstructured time with people of their own age.
Ringing a call centre with the sole intention of ruining the day of the employee who answers? Prize cunt. No exceptions. You've got a complaint. You're angry. The staff member on minimum wage is trying to help you. Don't be a bullying cunt.
What’s really striking in Saruman’s speech to Gandalf is how broadly (and unusually for Tolkien) relevant it is. Take out the one specific reference to the Elves and Númenor and it is just an absolute classic rationale for collaborating with evil in the confidence you can ultimately direct it.
Not been able to keep up with drawing birthday cards recently while we’re prepping for something lovely, but have just finished my dad’s card ready for his birthday tomorrow.
I hate to disrespect the Slow Horses but Reform UK is basically becoming Slough House for failed Tories.
Some film this. Absolutely wonderful. Double bill it with Le Cercle Rouge!
I love this book so much. I might be tempted to buy it a fourth time now.
Well you know what day it is! m.youtube.com/watch?v=lS9J...
In the week the great Hungarian film director Bela Tarr died, not a single one of his films was available to stream legitimately. Not even on bespoke art film services. Twenty years ago you could get them on DVD in a big HMV. This is not progress.
