A real "partly cloudy vs. partly sunny" dilemma here

When I spied his feathered visage, he looked into my very soul.
Quoth the Raven, "Guacamol'!"
Munched upon a taco crispy, wondering just what it's missing,
Tried many a quaint and curious salsa, no forgotten bowl.
Chewed some more, still kvetching, when suddenly there came a pecking,
As of someone gently checking, like a waiter on patrol.
My age plus not having kids means that when I saw this post, my first thought was "I don't remember a school scene in 'Arthur.'"
I still hold out hope that someday all writers will bask in the warm embrace of WordPerfect.

The Federal Defenders of Idaho are hiring an appellate attorney! It's a small office, so you'd get a lot of responsibility and variety in your work.

(I thought I had already posted this one, but I think I missed it.)
The banjo player and "Hee Haw" star Grandpa Jones got his nickname when he was 22 years old.
Seems like this would be something another county could manipulate by granting citizenship to anyone they didn't want in the U.S. Congress.
You could also free up your hands altogether and strap on a feedbag.
I read this book a few years ago about the final days of the war and how much of a mess it was trying to close down the embassy and rescue as many South Vietnamese as possible.

Two stills from movie scenes, the first from "Animal House" showing the Niedermeyer character in ROTC uniform being upended by a parade float and the caption "Douglas C. Neidermeyer '63, Killed in Vietnam by his own troops," and the second from "Twilight Zone: The Movie" showing a group of soldiers at night looking tense and one saying "I told you guys, we shouldn't have shot Lieutenant Niedermayer!" (And no, I can't explain the multiple spellings of the character's name.)
"Animal House" director John Landis had a callback to that line in his later "Twilight Zone" movie.

I don't recommend the express ride back down

Continuing my thread of appellate federal public defender hiring announcements:
The Northern District of Alabama FPD Office is hiring an appellate attorney! You could live in the same city as the world's largest statue made of cast iron!

Surprised there's no Kentucky case law on this. Maybe they'll refer to Florida's "tipsy coachman" doctrine.

I can only dream of being this unreachable.
"Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, I am way, way, way out of the office. If you need immediate assistance, please contact...."
Anytime I hear "Well, well well..." my brain goes here:

When the bombshell turned out to be the dropout announcement, the relief was also overwhelming. Spontaneous parties all over campus. My stepdad was sick with the flu, and the only thing he had in his dorm room was Southern Comfort. He got so drunk & so sick that the smell of SoCo still disgusts him.
My stepdad told me once that this was the feeling 68 years ago yesterday when LBJ made his surprise announcement he wouldn't run for re-election. My stepdad was in college and everyone was scared they'd get drafted or LBJ would say he dropped the bomb or something. The uncertainty was overwhelming.
In awe of everything going on behind the scenes to prepare for and support this space launch.

Christie played catcher on his high school baseball team, and graduated in 1980. Probably has thoughts about Thurman Munson!
I love this whole podcast, and I know that a lot of it is Steven's shtick, but if you had a drinking game that required a shot for every complete sentence that @celebrityhottub.bsky.social was able to utter without interruption, you would finish this episode stone sober.
This is a nice piece. I've seen a few games at the Trop where snowbird Yankee or Red Sox fans outnumbered Rays fans. But it's a perfectly adequate air-conditioned place to watch baseball. Tough to get to a weekday game after work from Tampa; hated driving west into the setting sun.
Can I ask what brand of shoes those are?
We were blown away with how generous he was with his time and help on a case he had no involvement in. But get this: Our moot was on 12/29/12. DF had four arguments between 10/1/12 and 3/19/13, including one on 1/7/13. Obviously brilliant, but also a gem of a guy in my book for doing that for us.
Our office had a SCOTUS case, and some of his colleagues did an amicus, so we did a moot there. DF dropped in and gave some excellent feedback and advice, really spent a lot of time helping a first-time advocate. After about an hour he said "Well, I need to go prepare for my own argument next week."
