Are you someone who makes lists, plans everything and prefers to do everything yourself, because otherwise things will go wrong? There is a good chance that you are a control freak. Control is a fact of life. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlMh...

My main point is though that we should be mindful of our microphone quality, for the sake of our conversation partners. Because you never hear how bad your sound quality is if you don't test or ask for feedback.
5/🧵 If we're going to live so much of our lives through online conversations, sound quality deserves as much attention as video. Better audio = less fatigue + more genuine connection.
4/🧵 The difference a good headset or dedicated mic makes is remarkable. It brings warmth and presence to conversations - that feeling of being truly "there" with someone, even when we're just two people behind screens in separate rooms.
3/🧵 I find it fascinating: platforms like Teams, Zoom, and WhatsApp all prioritize video self-view, but offer no real-time audio quality feedback. No wonder so many people don't realize their sound setup needs improvement!
2/🧵 When someone's audio sounds thin, muffled, compressed, distant, has echo, or feels hollow and mechanical, it's exhausting to listen to. There's a real cognitive strain that adds up when you're in online meetings all day.
1/🧵 Ever notice how we obsess over how we look in video calls, constantly checking our video preview - but there's no equivalent feedback for how we sound? This creates a huge blind spot in online conversations.
Have any philosophers out there published any papers in the last 5 years broadly relating to a control-theory approach to mind/action/perception/mental health? I'm working on a review.
Years ago, together with @hirokisayama.bsky.social and dozens of colleagues from the #ComplexSystems community we have built the complexityexplained.github.io website w/ interactive explorables.
Amazingly, the booklet (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) has been translated in 15 languages to date, just added 🇫🇷
Well done, Rob & team! A well-written and interesting read. I'm curious about possible solutions which allow care coordinators more time for supervision. Maybe if the long term efficiency of the MOL approach becomes evident to the administrators, it gains priority?
New open access article from the CAMEO project exploring experiences and views of Method of Levels therapy delivered by care coordinators working in Early Intervention in #Psychosis services. bmcpsychiatry.biomedcentral.com/articles/10....
In plaats van mindless te scrollen in de trein gebruik ik Claude om ideeën te exploreren. Herkenbaar?
Looking back at an intensive iapct conference on #perceptualcontroltheory. Working interdisciplinary means continuously stretching my mind. Intense presentations & conversations, online too but so happy to join from the ridiculously beautiful Curtin campus 🌿 in Perth, WA.
Looking forward to presenting at the International Association of Perceptual Control Theory conference tomorrow. I’ll be discussing how the theory might improve mental health services. #PerceptualControlTheory

At the International Association for Perceptual Control Theory in Perth. Such a powerful approach to the mind and well-being. Consider me a convert!
