With #FIFA awarding their inaugural "Peace Prize" to a politician who has done NOTHING for the sport and for non-sporting, political reasons, they've destroyed their ability to claim themselves neutral arbiters when ruling on their own ban of governmental interference in sporting affairs.
Here are the final #2026WorldCup groups after today's draw in Washington, D.C.
The expanded format has diluted the field a bit so there's more parity across the groups than in previous tournaments, plus a few TBD's, but I'm leaning towards Groups I and L for my "Group of Death" nod.
Here's how the #USMNT 's official 2026 World Cup draw worked itself out:
๐บ๐ธ - USA, FIFA Rank #14
๐ฆ๐บ - AUS, #26
๐ต๐พ - PAR, #39
โ๏ธ - TBD
The final group spot will be one of ๐น๐ท (TUR #25), ๐ท๐ด (ROU 47), ๐ธ๐ฐ (SVK 45), or ๐ฝ๐ฐ (KOS 80).
What are your thoughts on Group D and the Americans' odds?

Ten years of FC Cincinnati... man. It's difficult to find the right words to capture the complicated emotions intertwined with the club's impact on my life over the last decade. But what I value most about FCC is the platform it provided me to build relationships with so many amazing people.
Up early this morning on vacation to watch my former club, and friends on the coaching staff, challenge for a national championship on a national television broadcast. Give 'em hell, Ohio Galaxies!
The new Cosmos' mascot should be a zombie.
There's nothing quite like watching the national team in your town on your birthday. #uswnt
FIFA is so desperate to move tickets for the Club World Cup that they have Verizon sending push notifications out for "exclusive discounts". #fifacwc

I hear there's also a European club superpower playing a match in the Club World Cup here, too. Doesn't seem quite as big of a deal, but I should probably at least mention it.
Today's a seismic day for soccer in Cincinnati... I played in my first over-40 match.
A nearly full-strenth Bayern Munich is playing in my city on Sunday and I'm not even feeling an urge to drive down to check out the atmosphere... nevermind pay the ransom FIFA is charging for tickets.
Guys, I'm trying real, real, real hard to gather any sort of excitement for tomorrow's kickoff of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup... and I just can't. #FIFACWC
It's been clear since February they weren't going down. Same as getting back into the top 7.
Not even a "thank you" for his services or accomplishments? With this piss-poor excuse of a Friday news dump announcement, you'd think Ange was at Spurs for a month and lost every match.
Nothing will ever change at Tottenham until Levy divorces himself from sporting decisions. #coys
This extremely good girl has better control with her right foot than I do.
To dare is to do.
Is that finishing an average of fourth over the next 17 years and going trophyless in the process?
Maybe Frank could prove me wrong, but I'd rather give Ange another shot at glory again first.
As embarrassingly bad as the league campaign was, Ange still guided Spurs to two of what you'd expect were his primary pre-season objectives: qualify for the Champions League, and win a trophy.
There are plenty of Spurs managers who achieved far less with more and were given the longer leashes.
I understand the stability UCL qualification provides. I also get that betting the house on winning a trophy each season is a foolish strategy.
But I want a manager that has the ability and fortitude to achieve sustainability targets AND recognize and seize an opportunity when it's there to take.
Suppose Spurs sack Ange for Thomas Frank: fine manager, done well at Brentford, feels "safe". He'll reprioritize the EPL & UCL, maybe guide them back to Europe. But I could also see Spurs crashing out early as he rotates the squad to make those priorities happen, with nothing but 4th to show for it.
As a Tottenham supporter of 30+ years, I love that Ange Postecoglou had the balls to say, "Our injury-ravaged squad can't compete on all fronts this season, we're safe from relegation and can't get into Europe through the table...let's go all in on the Europa League and finally win something!" #coys
Nothing says "Welcome to our country!" like Customs and Border Protection reminding you they'll be keeping an eye on you while you're here for the #FifaClubWorldCup.
Delbo, what a legend.
On one hand, I can appreciate that I haven't had to coach in mid-summer heat yet this spring.
On the other hand, it's super freaking annoying that I haven't gone a single week without having to contemplate cancelling a training session.
Glad to throw a little surprise into your midweek!

Can't remember the exact location, I don't drive 35 very often.
But there's a decent commuter presence that takes it to get to the base from up north and from the southwest sides of the city.
