I am aligned with your rhetorical goals here, but the seminal text, the BOM, is pretty anti-war and basically all the prophets in that stand up to the tyrants. I agree most who known this are gone, but those who stay who aren’t idiots can see the parallels, imo.

Eventually profits go down when people can’t afford to consume cuz no one has jobs tho. It’s going to eat its own growth. Feels like a big correction will come after that.

Protecting the Mormon brand name when I have heard it’s a slur and a victory for Satan is legit the funniest outcome of Nelson’s stand.

Definitely an interesting shift. FWIW, I was curious and did a text search in GC for "Good Friday," "Holy Week," or "Palm Sunday," and here is what I found. To my surprise, no mentions that I know of in GC last week though. I'm all for it, but it does seem to be part of something broader.

Free speech (the stupid new ‘anyone gets to talks with no consequences’ definition not the legal one), seems to just be for those on the right.

Why Mormons Rejected the Cross… And Are Bringing It Back!
Why Mormons Rejected the Cross… And Are Bringing It Back! YouTube video by Benjamin Park, Historian

This is the single biggest example for me, that the church is just vibe eras and has no theological consistency.

The “peculiar people trying to be apart of the culture” Hinkley era, is functionally dead.

It’s clear the church I used to believe in is practically gone.

This is alarmingly close to what happened in our country at the same exact time.

One narrative I am struggling to adopt, no matter how politically smart, is that Trump has gotten worse recently.

He’s always been this bad, IMO.

Hoping this is like Brexit. A sign of the things to come to the United States.

Carney’s election and this make me feel like maybe the world has woken up to how ineffective populist right movements end up being, let alone how toxic they are.

A reminder that President Oaks likely hates Trump even more than the Pope does; simply from the power he’s drained from the courts.

But you’ll never hear him say that because they are all afraid of him and their membership so they don’t speak out.

Which is kinda worse than if he was just MAGA.

If we send Ben McAdams this time, it’s a win for the right. Kinda surprised he’d run at all, but I guess centrists are going to sabotage the party. What’s new.

Progressives find themselves in this odd position of needing things to get much worse so we will actually try and systemically fix them.

This is a good example.

The only way we will ever solve the climate crisis is once its threatens capitalism. Getting close now.

I miss twitter stake. I am also sure 85% of those participating in the early versions of it are out of the church.

it will take generations for the world to trust America again but imo we can speed run it by shipping people to The Hague. As a gesture of like “we get it.”

Wonder how you attribute this. Just Jo being sloppy or was he clever enough to have things mismatch directly to make it seem complex or have shifting societal norms?

When you prohibit sex at all, then consent is just another rule you are breaking when you do the thing everyone else is. It’s a church problem too, IMO.
