After years of working on this, I finally became a real summoner in FFXI

The last time it got me (I worked in an office with *hand scanners*), I somehow avoided vomiting through sheer willpower. I don't know if I'm that strong anymore.

Being a germaphobe with emetophobia is really exhausting. Norovirus has hit 2/3 people in my household, and I'm the only one who remains unscathed. I know I'll need to be hypervigilant for weeks. I'm already tired. (I haven't vomited since I was a child, probably 30+ years.)

Okay, the thing that scares me about this is like... some people will DM accounts of dead loved ones kind of as a cathartic way to "talk" to them in the afterlife or just reflect on things they wish they could share. ... I assume Meta is going to make AI "talk back" ........

People stayed patient, polite and courteous with each other throughout the prog experience, in addition to committing way more hours during week 3/4 than originally planned. It really was a team effort.

I forgot to post this when it happened because I was burnt out. This was an 8/8 ("two chest") clear. Someone was just eager to see the loot before I got a pic. 😂 It may have taken my group longer than average, but I am still proud. I heard this tier broke a lot of groups apart.

My 7yo daughter’s best friends’ family fled the country a few weeks ago. Today she came home with a drawing of her and another friend blowing whistles at ICE agents.

“We’re blowing the whistles and so ICE will go away and our friends can come back,” she said.

I started sobbing uncontrollably.

That's so pretty! I'm not familiar with this character, but the aesthetic reminds me of FFX, and I'm a big fan. 💜

Shout out to all the shot callers progging M11S. I've probably said the words axe, scythe and sword more in the past few days than I will ever say them again in my life.

A few people were streaming, so we have "video evidence." Maybe we should report it as a bug.

We wiped at the start of M10S, and one of our team members was left with the "First in Line" debuff. During subsequent pulls, he ended up with multiple debuffs if chosen for a different number. It only went away when he was finally chosen for "First in Line" again (and resolved).

Since using Cloudflare WARP, I have not DCed at all during mass DCs. The worst that will happen is a slight lag spike. Only one person in our group DCed all night during our four-hour prog session, and they were not using a VPN/WARP.

It feels very unfair that SMN is basically the worst dps in the game yet it also draws some of the highest aggro from its opener. The amount of M9S tank busters I've eaten in my opener... The last time I remember this happening was in E12S, but SMN was actually good back then.

The strategy board is so good! You can resize it! You can make multiple slides and bind a forward/backward action toggle between them! You organize them in folders! You can share! There's so many objects! It's going to replace my silly little post-its on my monitors (RIP).

Okay, I am eating my words. When the queues popped, I was 227 in line. That's insanely lucky. My birthday is 7/22. Lucky numbers. 😄 Was able to secure tickets for my friends, including someone who wasn't able to get one last time.

I did not get a code. I never win these things. Seriously, my luck is horrible, and I was honestly anticipating this outcome. But... I am once again able to go due to the generosity and kindness of my friends (who are far luckier than I am). I am so grateful... 😭

I can finally wear my summoner horn at all times. Best Christmas gift ever!

A friend of mine printed this. After seeing it, I demanded that he make me one... so he gave me this one and told me he'd print another. It's a train whistle. Only one person I showed understood the joke. I hope the internet at large will not disappoint.

I'm looking forward to tackling the step-up difficulty of Quantum next.

I completed the entirety of the new Deep Dungeon "blind" with a group of friends. It was really fun! Without saying spoilers, I think adding more checkpoints was a good tradeoff for increased boss mechanical complexity. The final boss was especially a real joy to figure out.
