Special note to D8: Jamie Raskin has *not* signed on yet, so he needs to hear from as many of us as possible.

Fearing deportation, a beloved music teacher gives a final lesson Jesús Rodríguez, a Venezuelan national whose U.S. humanitarian parole status is set to expire soon, decided to voluntarily leave the United States out of worry of being detained.

“Mr. Rodríguez, we’re going to miss you,” a girl told the teacher after singing.

“I’m going to miss you, too,” he said, fighting back tears of his own.

Happy May 1st. The value of your labor belongs to you and the actions of the state are best understood as as a coordinated effort to distract you from this. The state fears an organized and unified proletariat like it fears death and rightly so. Power to the workers and power to the people

She wrote an article in the student newspaper. That’s all she did. The U.S. can’t call itself a free country if that gets you sent to jail.

There are a lot of bad things happening all at once, and it’s overwhelming to think about how to meet moments like this.

Jean says to focus on 1 or 2 things that you care about, understand fairly well, and are either local or involve a topic where you’re likely to have influence and find community

I know you aren't going to want to hear this but the reason the system can deport Mahmoud Khalil and send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador is that for years we've been executing factually innocent people like Marcellus Williams and sending legally innocent people to places like Riker's Island.

Let today’s Capitol Hill bathroom sit-in spark an era of radical defiance. Trans folks refuse to bow to hate and bigotry. We demand dignity and respect. We will fight like our ancestors. We are building with our elders and peers. And trans youth will inherit a better world.
