I’m not saying you are wrong or your experience is invalid or something, but for the (let’s face it) overwhelmingly white American readership of this site, the experience is often different!

The majority of flights are middle-distance hops between hubs in different parts of America

The argument is not “it’s ok to be careless and miss half of every flight flight you book”

It’s “the cost benefit tradeoff here could be better in most lower-stakes situations”

There are obviously exceptions! God why is this pattern of thought pervasive

Yes, there are occasional exceptions, where it is disproportionately important to not miss your flight. International travel, business travel, etc etc

But as a GENERAL rule, it’s not going to kill you

Separate from THAT methodological problem, if you can induce a relatively sharp decrease in a measure that you can also easily induce by other everyday experiences (e.g., typical states) that's mostly an argument against structure change not for it. Don't even need to know EEG to reason that out

Route finding algorithms such as A* fit firmly under the classic definition of AI, and you will find it in almost any AI textbook from ~2000 or earlier. It was covered extensively in my AI coursework in 2019

the academic CS definition encompasses lots that the colloquial definition doesn’t

It’s shocked how once you attempt to do anything that isn’t “search for items and buy them” on the Amazon website the entire site breaks down

Try to get a refund for something that got lost during shipping! Took me hours and multiple phone calls

“Guys! I referenced 2001 a space odyssey AND the shining in the same scene!”

“Woah! Her disembodied face crawls over the symbol of her discarded beauty from the beginning of the movie!”

The first 2 acts of “The Substance” are written very well. Over the top but in a way that really works for the subject its handling

The last 2 or 3 scenes are the most freshman-in-film-school dogwater I’ve ever watched

It constantly tries to recommend “mixes” of videos I watched ONCE like a decade ago. Holy shit I don’t want nightcore frank Sinatra mixes I grew up since then

If you’re in one of the areas it serves, padmapper occasionally has listings not on zillow. Besides that yeah it’s all the same in my experience

I suppose communicative ability is an important aspect of intelligence as well. Idk the thoughts aren’t fully formed here but I don’t feel fully convinced. Might need to think in it

I’m not as up to date on the LLM literature as I’d like, so maybe things like long term planning (which are definite hallmarks of intelligence) etc are impacted by this social grounding

I think this social grounding was important for making this intelligence *easy to interact with*, but I’m not wholly convinced that it is required for the intelligence per-se

Moving in with my partner who is very particular about keeping all the dishes clean and put-away has convinced me of this. Cooking happens way more easily! (It helps that our new combined joint pile of stuff now has 2 of most pots/pans/cooking implement/etc but still)

I mean, it’s definitely not okay, but I can sort of see a logic of where if you were forced to take over an account, it may be more moral to use an inactive one. But this is still insane

Yeah I do actually think there is “career alpha” in having a human to do the uncomfortable shit. If something goes against the “customer” (patient, legal client, w/e) it feels terrible for them to have to resent a robot, and having a human face to blame might be preferable
