I had many issues with it but by far my biggest gripe was the meaningless insert songs almost every episode

half of it's slow pans over mostly static distant shots as they're having this utterly flaccid discussion, but even the closeups were busted. absolutely hideous episode lmao

first ep didn't really earn the monogats comparisons (the other things it was aping were more prominent), but ep 2 is just straight gatari minus the secret sauce (a sharp script, compelling characters, direction, the ability to feign having good drawings)
