In fairness, I don't think American patriotism is 100% bad. Most of it comes from the revolution. There (was) a certain audacity that served us well. But we rested on our laurels. We kept the pride, doubling down on it in fact, and let everything else rot. So now we're like spoiled children.
Suddenly, it was all "support the troops." Never mind it was a sham war.. But it was all lip service. No one cared about soldier's vehicles not having armor. No one cared about the cancers from exposure to burn pits and alike. Everything is like a sports team here and ppl don't question it.
Patriotism, religion, tribalism.. all just means to control people. I grew up on military bases and remember signs like "keep dogs and sailors off the grass." Vets were completely ignored if not disliked. Until, that is, civilian buildings fell down on 9/11. It was an immediate bullshit change. 1/2
This is prob a shitty explanation but the US is like Amazon. They have literally anything you could want and will have it on your door in 18 hours. The return policy and procedure is normally phenomenal. Buuut, if you fall through the cracks some way, some how... fuck you, die. You have no recourse.
Healthcare here is probably some of the best in the world but everything outside of treatment itself is inherently predatory. People deny ambulance rides because they don't want to be charged $5k. The insurance industry bought the politicians forever ago. Congress however is granted /12
