We have circled back to the "Walmart put the Masterverse Vintage figure I ordered that they canceled the order for back up for preorder" part of the cycle, so I ordered Mer-Man AGAIN -- along with Beast Man to get free shipping. We'll see if they cancel Beast Man when HE gets closer to release date.

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”

It's essential, but also a fitting punishment for someone who spent so much time and energy protecting the statues and memorials of the white supremacist traitors who came before him in the Confederacy.

Reminds me of how the kids in Ghostbusters 2 would all have rather had He-Man than the Ghostbusters at the birthday party in 1989 -- the year the short-lived sci-fi laser sword version of He-Man was flopping.

I'm listening to an arranged soundtrack version of the music from Double Dragon II for NES and, what do MEAN the stage 2 music was always a riff on "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins?

I remember watching this trailer a few times on the ridiculous comprehensive Star Wars Trilogy laserdisc set my parents owned before any of us realized who was doing the narration.

(And if you think that one's a stretch, c'mon, this is the series that features Vector Prime, the OTHER ancient Autobot whose face is very much the Autobot symbol -- which certainly COULD have been designed without remembering Furman & Wildman's Last Autobot exists, but again ... c'mon ...)

(I was convinced then that most of Galaxy Force's "Convoys" were inspired a bit by Matrix-holder characters in the lore up to that point -- Magnus here, of course; Nitro Convoy/Override's head has a lot of Hot Rod design cues, and I was sure Flame Convoy/Scourge took some notes from Thunderwing.)

I remember at the time looking at that helmet and that chest and wondering what was up with Hasbro & Takara deciding to make Ultra Magnus a helicopter in this show -- which makes it weird and funny that the mold's been officially done up as two OTHER 1986 guys (Springer & Galvatron), but not him.

Me and my sister's experience with these last three flicks -- which, all three we saw in the same theater in the nearest slightly larger town -- was pretty much disappointment with Street Fighter, relief and fun with Mortal Kombat, and even GREATER disappointment with this one. Bafflingly bad.

My only memories of the Disney Channel were free weekends in the '80s (back when it had this very branding!) where I'd wind up seeing some of the classic Donald Duck shorts and five minutes here or there of the weird live action Winnie the Pooh show.

One of the biggest lies in American culture is that the wealthy got wealthy by making morally good choices (ie working hard) and the poor got poor by making morally bad choices (ie being lazy and irresponsible) and that they both deserve what they got.

this is as bad as the "if it has an em-dash it was written by AI" rule. I use em-dashes! & I often begin emails with "I hope this email finds you well". here's the thing: the LLMs use such punctuation & wording BECAUSE ACTUAL HUMAN WRITERS USE THESE THINGS! AND THEY WERE TRAINED ON OUR WRITING! smfh

A peer reviewed study shows a promising link between flu and shingles vaccines and a reduced risk of dementia. A heroin addict who cut off a raccoon’s penis for “further study” says these vaccines cause autism. For busy Americans, it can be hard to know who to trust.

Pope on plane to Angola: "A certain narrative has taken hold—one that is not entirely accurate-due to the political situation that arose when, on the first day of the trip, the President of the United States made certain statements regarding me.... Much of what has been written since then is nothing more than commentary upon commentary, in an attempt to interpret what was said. An example is the important address delivered at the Prayer Meeting for Peace on April 16. That speech had been prepared two weeks earlier—well before the President commented on me and on the message of peace I am promoting. And yet, it was interpreted as if I were attempting to engage in a renewed debate with the President
—something that is not in my interest at all."

huge portions of media think they’re the refs in a Vatican VS White House MMA fight and they’re delusional. this is a one-sided beef where the Pope says something sensible like “war is bad” or “we should not bomb schoolchildren” and all the hit dogs on Capitol Hill and Fox News lose their marbles.

I've been saying this for awhile but putting these ads in public places, where regular people, not companies, can see them is not meant as an ad, but as a threat.

A Prominent PR Firm Is Running a Fake News Site That’s Plagiarizing Original Journalism at Incredible Scale A PR firm is running a strange AI-fueled plagiarism mill that's ripping off — and mangling — a huge amount of local and national reporting.

NEW: We caught a site run by a buzzy PR firm ripping off local and national journalism at an almost incomprehensible scale -- it's like a fully automatic machine gun spraying bullets of pure plagiarism directly into the internet

CinemaCon coverage is frustrating because half of it is descriptions of how cool a trailer you're not allowed to see is and the other half is CEOs saying "with the power of AI, we have made a movie where Chadwick Boseman beats cancer and it apologizes to him"
