"I'm sorry for getting him elected because it didn't work out as well for me like I was hoping."

It's the typical "I thought he would only hurt OTHER people" MAGA regret.

I was surprised and pleased to discover this. We have an excellent Scottish bakery in Detroit, but they couldn't have authentic haggis when I was a kid due to food regulations. So I was an adult before I could try and enjoy it!

Thanks to everyone who signal-boosted this. No new work has been forthcoming, unfortunately. Please keep me under consideration for upcoming projects - both C/O and WFH! I feel like I'm doing my career-best work at the moment but nobody will hire me for new projects!

Gah! Coney Island! Not sure how that got screwed up.

I think I'd be out late more often if there were more 24-hour joints! 😁

Around here, we've got "Cont Island" diners. Named after the Michigan-born chili dog with special chili, onions, and mustard. They're all over. Often family-run with Greek items on the menu in addition to typical diner fair.

Was always surprised there weren't more 24-hour joints in LA. Less common now in Detroit (after pandemic shutdowns threw everyplace for a loop), but back then we had a lot.

Not a diner, but I do love Vivian's Millennium Cafe in Studio City. Used to go there whenever I could during my brief time in LA. North Hollywood Diner was another place I liked.

I need it to have a crisp, crunchy outer crust, though.

Likewise, I don't want hash browns that are just slightly golden on one side. I want them BROWN on both sides.

I love a good diner.

I've often told people that whatever success I've had as a writer (modest though that may be) is because I'm too stupid to quit.

Don't think I ever read this issue of The Thing, but nice to see that sentiment echoed.

Culture's Skeleton Check out Culture's Skeleton - <p>Casey is a retired Combat Musician, making a living playing small gigs at her local bar. Jake is a professional con man. They need a new couch, which has nothing to d...

So y'all know I write (and edit) prose and comics, right? Well, you could go buy possibly still my fave novel I've ever written. It takes place in a city that is at every point in time and space at once. There's a con man, and a combat musician, The Grandmother of Keys, & The Cat With No Face. (1/2)

It's odd to me that I've quite enjoyed The Mandalorian TV show, but I have no particular interest in the movie.

In other news In short, Adam has cancer. Also, there is a puppy.

Adam Hughes is going through a serious health issue. I decided to buy a couple of things from his shop in hopes it helps out in some way.

I run into this with other shows too. It's not really the show I want, but it does what it's trying to do very well.

For The Boys, the fact it's by Eric Kripke and it's "industry adjacent" for me, means I end up watching. Just not always right away.

15 Years After Citizens United: Big Money’s Grip on Our Democracy - Roosevelt Institute As ultra-wealthy interests gain power, public trust in government has cratered. Roosevelt’s latest report draws on new research demonstrating how corporate actors benefited from Citizens United to the...

WE all know how stunningly & effectively (& DELIBERATELY) corrosive Citizens United has been to the American political & social landscape.

Most don’t.

I’m sure someone could BRIEFLY distill its effects; this is a COMPREHENSIVE distillation.

And it is UGLY.

Amelia Shadows has never had what you might call a “normal” childhood. For one thing, her dad’s the most powerful dark magician in the world. And for another, she’s spent her entire life in a house filled with ghosts and monsters and incredibly dangerous magical objects! As far as Amelia’s concerned, her life’s actually pretty cool.

When Amelia and her cat, Clara, aren’t having adventures or dealing with dimensional portals in the pantry, she’s learning to be a dark magician, just like her dad, with the help of a ghost tutor named Gustave. You’d think a ghost tutor named Gustave would be pretty fun, but he’s actually pretty boring.

And if a boring ghost tutor wasn’t bad enough, now Amelia’s dad has hired another ghost to oversee things, Hans. Which wouldn’t be that bad, except Hans has very strong opinions about how things should be around the house. This new head ghost has got to go, and Amelia may have a surprising ally…

Magic and mischief and a life lesson or two from Matthew Dow Smith, creator of DC’s Misfits of Magic and Maverick’s The October Girl.

Is that Super American?

Oh, I'm aware of the history. I've been reading the series since well before the TV show. I honestly thought I'd read a recent announcement that he wasn't planning to finish.

Perhaps I was fooled by some "satire" site.
