Just because the storm has passed doesn’t mean it isn’t still exciting to watch the leftovers 😍 youtu.be/la05JzWsilU?... #CAwx

Don't mind me, I'm just over here losing my mind about the last two days of clouds I've been lucky enough to capture with the drone 🤪 #CAwx
Still can’t wrap my head around the size of this anvil growing East of Modesto around 4pm today (as seen from Alameda). #cawx
Anyone else being chased back indoors by afternoon showers today? #CAwx
Three marine warnings for possible waterspouts issued off the Bay Area coastline. Either of these three storm cells could produce a short-lived tornado as they come ashore sometime between now and 7 p.m. #CAwx
I count 5 potential spinups offshore in the last KMUX scan, SPC wasn’t kidding when they said limited buoyancy wasn’t going to be too much of an issue… 😅
Radar snapshot of mini-supercell over Monterey Bay. In the panel on the right, a rotational couplet (indicative of a rotating storm, and possibly a waterspout) is readily apparent.
Pretty impressive mini-supercell thunderstorms over Monterey Bay right now with a tight rotational couplet and even a bit of a hook echo. This cell is likely producing a waterspout, and is headed for Santa Cruz area. A brief tornado is possible when it makes landfall. #CAwx
Found a real Christmas miracle in the backyard after last night’s round of wind and rain…
T-storms Wed PM "will be capable of producing gusty winds as it moves inland," the center wrote in its 5pm forecast update.
More intense thunderstorms are predicted from midnight to 4am Thursday when "isolated strong wind gusts and a brief tornado will be possible ... especially along the coast."
I've never seen the nadocast have such a high risk of tornados in the Bay Area before. This is for Christmas morning.
Dramatic layers of storm clouds over the San Francisco Bay, taken Dec 24, 2025. The view is looking southwest toward Burlingame and SFO. Bright patches of sunlight illuminate the ships taking refuge in the bay.
The opening notes of this Christmas system was quite a splendid show this afternoon over the San Francisco Bay. #CAwx
Unbelievable. This would be a terrible blow to American science, writ large. It would decimate not only climate research, but also the kind of weather, wildfire, and disaster research that has underpinned half a century of progress in prediction, early warning, and increased resilience.
This is devastating news to try to digest in the middle of finals. I was vibrating just to get to tour the NCAR mesa facility last year, dreaming of when I might walk through those doors on my way to my dream internship or research position.
What a heavy blow to atmospheric research 😔
Graceful cloud movement over the South Bay mountains at golden hour this evening 😍 #CAwx
The unsettled air left behind after yesterday's storm made for some truly beautiful cumulonimbus action over the Oakland hills this afternoon #CAwx
There’s something remarkably graceful about the arrival of this week’s storm 😌 #CAwx
Didn't quite make it home in time to catch the full sunset, but what I did see was pretty gorgeous
Good evening ☺️
Start to finish, yesterday’s storm was a phenomenal showing 🤩 youtu.be/zxNKlTHjoj4?... #weather
I put together all of the timelapse clips from yesterday’s epic cloud show. An unbelievably stunning day, what a treat to have witnessed 😍 #CAwx
A bright orange streak on the horizon is the sunset over the skyline of San Francisco, topped with leftover cumulus clouds from today’s storm activity
Cumulus clouds at sunset over the San Francisco Bay, looking far more tropical than Northern California typically looks
Okay, today wasn’t too bad
Top to bottom, start to finish, banner day for cloud watchers in the Bay Area today. What a sunset to cap off a stunning day! #CAwx
As the day progresses, it never gets less awesome. Forgive me for flooding the timeline 😅
There are no words for how stunning this afternoon has been…just…wow
I mean, look at this thing! 👀
Just based on the size of this anvil towering over the Santa Cruz mountains (@ appx. 3:30pm) it would not be surprising to learn there may have been funnel clouds embedded in this system #CAwx
I’m feasting 😍
A low-pressure system moves down the West Coast, bringing stormy weather to California.
Finally, you can see how rapidly those cute lil cumulus puffs developed into much larger system in just a few short minutes. (Loosely each video is 1 second = 1 minute of real time) #CAwx
Looking back toward the Oakland Airport and East Bay hills… love how these little cumulus puff balls grow #CAwx
