I rarely do content warnings but this is very bad. Like with some movies, I had to take breaks. Why this is so bad is the core of all traumatic events: the impossibility to understand the why.

"Contemporary science is evolving at a breathtaking pace, but archival practice is struggling to keep up—especially when it comes to capturing not just the final products of research but the full, dynamic process by which science is made."

“the move seems to be a case of austerity dressed up as ethical decision-making, withdrawing support for the idea of #OpenAccess while claiming it’s all about profiteering” (ouch!) Some hard truths in the linked article below - both it and @richardsever.bsky.social’s commentary well worth reading👇

Six overlapping circles illustrating the six types of openness in the MORPHSS typology: epistemic openness, participatory openness, process openness, evidentiary openness, availability of outputs and the accessible communication of research.
Figure illustrating the MORPHSS typology's six forms of openness and their audiences, participants and publics (participants and communities, academic audiences and non-academic audiences)
We present and unpack the MORPHSS typology of forms of openness in the arts, humanities and qualitative social sciences, and the range of actors and audiences to whom these forms and practices of openness "open up" research:
