I was researching for a piece and came across some alarming stats. Around 40% of people feel like their jobs are meaningless. Separately, studies show that almost all young people feel their lives lack purpose.
Finding meaning in your work is nearly impossible if you can't find meaning in life.
Much of our lives is defined by our relationship with money. I really think this accounts for a lot of the disphoria we experience with success.

Most things we label "productivity" aren't actually producing more: It's just avoiding work.
Not just the physical or time-consuming parts, but also the mental work to think, learn, and make decisions.
Most things we label "productivity" is just laziness rebranded to make us feel better.

Life is not a race. Whoever you see in front of you isn't ahead; they are just trying to get to their destination on their timeline.

I was asked, "what advice would you give your 22yr old self"
Most importantly, I would probably say, "spend less time worrying about your needs and try to help others meet theirs. That will open more doors than you ever could alone."
Then I remembered - 22yr old me wouldn't listen to anyone.
AI actually doesn't scare me... The technology, at least.
How it interacts with people and the psychology of the average user, that is what actually scares me. You know, people.

We all can find some pretty good reasons not to be good to each other. Does it matter if behavior is proactive or reactive if it results in worse outcomes for everyone?
Sure, you won the fight, but if you don't want the prize, is it really winning?
Way to stick it to them, though... I guess.
Freedom is hard. Hard to get, but harder to maintain. True freedom requires significant responsibility. Most people don't want actual freedom; they want options.
They want to choose their outcomes without the responsibility.
That isn't freedom you want; it is just the ability to choose your cage.
Come on. Give us a follow. You know you want to see where this goes in part 2.
There is a lot of AI fear I don't buy. I still check under the bed every now and then, though.

Most financial influencers have a story that looks something like this: "I had numerous failed businesses, and then I finally hit it big. - Never give up."
That isn't skill, it's irresponsible.
The Poverty Line for a family of 4 is $33,000. If that isn't crazy enough, adjusted for inflation, it is the same as it was in 1959. Then, poverty meant earning half the average salary. Today, it's nearly a third. Just things to think about.
When was the last time you sung karaoke? If it's been a while, maybe you should.
Karaoke is not about being good, it's about showing up. It's not about you, it's about the audience.
All the nerves and embarrassment you feel is part of tge experience. Then tou realize no one remembers it at all.
Seemingly traumatic instances as a child are part of the process. Humans learn, strengthen, and grow through adversity, but holding on to the negative aspects of childhood can stunt our growth as adults.

Moving money from checking to savings was a chore. That was until I flipped the order.
Now, my paycheck goes into my savings, and I transfer my monthly budget out. Total game changer in not only my savings, but my entire budget.
What is one simple trick that has helped you save money?
A rule of thumb in finding a new job is that it takes one month for every $10,000 in salary, especially above $70K. When nearly half of Americans can't afford an unexpected $1,000 expense, what is your game plan when the pink slip comes?

Prof G has a popular quote. He says, "You can have it all, just not all at once." He has a point and may be right, but choosing what you spend the most flexible and impactful years of your life focusing on will definitely shape what your success looks like.

Trying to make a decision? Are you actually trying to do the right thing or justify doing the wrong thing?
Most of the time, we know what is right, but it isn't easy, fun, or the most lucrative. Therefore, we allow ourselves to humor doing harm for the short-term gains.
The start is never easy, but I feel pretty accomplished to say that our 40th post since April on Medium went out today.
