Hit by a mink car driven by a guitar
And the silver chauffeur says that it's all in your head
When you're 24-karat dead

A large, artificial snowman, standing at the corner of Diamond Head Road & Coconut Ave in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. The snowman is waving with his right hand and holding a red sign with yellow letters spelling out “Mele Kalikimaka” in his left hand. Standing in front of brightly colored plants, the snowman is wearing a festive top hat and grass skirt.

Lēʻahi (Diamond Head) seen from Waikiki, just before sunset. Two yellow catamarans can be seen on the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, while overhead a light blue sky is mostly cloudless. The foreground is busy with palm trees and tourists.

Kōlea (Pacific Golden Plovers) are back in Hawaiʻi! They breed in Alaska over the summer and return to Hawaiʻi in the fall, usually to the exact same location. They make the non-stop flight from Alaska to Hawaiʻi (4800 km) in 3-4 days.

A picturesque view from above Honolulu, with the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (foreground) and Lēʻahi (Diamond Head) and the middle background. The dark blue of the Pacific Ocean is visible under a cloudy sky.

Several white plumeria blossoms on a tree, with green leaves. The five petal flowers have a light pink hue on some petals, and all with yellow centers.

A Hawaiian monk seal naps in the sun at Sandy Beach, O’ahu. The seal is on black rock. The Pacific Ocean is visible in the background and on the right side of the image. Two small, red flags in the foreground delineate the “no entry” zone, to keep the seal safe.

Great day to take a nap in the sun, especially if you’re a Hawaiʻian monk seal!

Koko Crater, on the eastern tip of Oʻahu, rises above Sandy Beach. The Pacific
ocean is visible on the left, with the beach and some vegetation in the foreground. The blue sky is partly obscured by white clouds.

No, I didn’t. I’ve ridden my bicycle past there hundreds of times and I’ve never actually gone down to the beach. I probably should.

The Waianea mountains from across Kaiaka Bay, early in the morning. The distant mountains appear small. The cloudy sky reflects in the calm, blue water of the bay.

A view of Koko Head, on the left side of the picture, beyond Paikō Lagoon, on April 22, 2025. Taken just after low tide, the water level in the lagoon is fairly low. The blue sky is streaked with wispy white clouds.
