Encouraging collaboration. Players are often inexperienced character designers, so help them. Be gentle in rebuffing their ideas, but firm in ensuring they fit with the tone of your game. If a player enjoys this process, tell them they’re officially a Game Master now and laugh maniacally.

Yeah, there's a lot that DnD can only kind of do, and a lot that it flat-out can't do. I've had to field questions on "why can't we just hack mech combat rules into 5e instead of playing Lancer?"
Also DnD does horror and intrigue best at early levels, before player options simply negate it.

i got into some good dnd groups and i am realizing that i am the weakest player on account of uncontrollably spacing out and disassociating in the middle of an activity that i enjoy and am trying to give my full attention. so now it just feels embarrassing and i want the campaigns to finish soon
Saw a post on a DnD Subreddit where a DM was asking for advice about a player who used AI for their character art despite the DM saying no to AI previously, and 95% of the replies were calling the DM an asshole for daring to deny AI. God, the TTRPG community can really suck.

esoteric ebb does the "game presented by one guy, who had a bunch of help" thing that i normally hate but since he actively presents himself as the dungeon master of the rpg it's actually a li'l charming
leading to a kinda appropriate facet that being a Dungeon master, is in some ways not that different from Mastering a Dungeon (BDSM). In both cases you have a group of people who are trusting you to inflict trials and hurt them for their gratification.
