Hegseth's repeal of universal flu vaccines is nonsense on so many levels, but his claim vaccine mandates were an "era of betrayal" irked me as a historian. Here's my response, in @thebulwark.com this morning;

What does inclusive sex positivity really ask of us? Sometimes, it means sitting with discomfort and curiosity as we explore the darker, messier edges of desire.
A little Boarding School factoid. The Moravians meticulously recorded vax status in their "application" files, whether a girl got immunized or contracted a disease & recovered previously. Daughters of all these founding generation types.
I saw a glorious azalea at the garden place yesterday. I did not buy it. I want it, but I don't know where it would go. Inside the fence, yes. There is not much space. Gotta be inside the fence or the deer will destroy it.

If you like what I do and want to help me do it, sign up for a paid subscription to the newsletter. If you're not interested in or able to afford a monthly/yearly payment, that's cool. I've got a GoFundMe for gear upgrades (and rent, frankly) going still and could use your support
I planted sunflowers a few days ago. From seeds I harvested from last year. And disturbed the soil and other areas. Now these little suckers are just coming up like monsters. It's fun how fast they grow
I planted (some of the 1000s of) the mammoth Russian sunflower seeds we harvested last fall. I spaced them out, measurement tape and all. 3O? 40? I don't know. Around those I put down the blanket flower and various seeds I gathered up last fall. I think this method will work.

Hey folks:
The @historians.org has posted a website containing teaching modules about the world history of authoritarianism.

I wrote a piece on what I found most fascinating about the Pentagon-Vatican rumors, and that's how it illuminates the problem of Catholic integralism in the far right. Give it a read @religiondispatches.org !

This video is just my opinion, isn't it

even before reading that question I was relishing the image of a data center getting the ol' Knox Mine disaster treatment.
It didn't feel wrong at all.
I made a cardamom almond cake yesterday. It wasn't hard, but I thought when I was done: no wonder dessert always came in can.
bite that bunny's head off
keep up the hard work and good luck on your finals!
I tried some of that throw some seeds in a milk jug in the dead of winter action. I got a few seeds coming up now. Including some blanket flower, which I harvested last season from the purchased seeds I planted.

Do you have a community archive project? Would you like to learn how to record oral histories in your local community? The LA&M is excited to announce the Ron Ehemann Community Leather & Kink Archive Grant Program, helping local communities create capacity to preserve their history.
I never played older versions of the game, and only know what I know from your videos. The newer lore drops and their possible connections to the other games catch my attention. Mainly the shadow reading and the doll stuff how it might loop in with FF5.
It was for this moment right now.
Less vs fewer came up on a recently on a Phantom Island.
Less: things you measure
Fewer: things you count.
Say “we need less shit and fewer turds around here” and you will remember this rule forever.
I talked to @morgansung.bsky.social about sex work, surveillance, & censorship for close all tabs from kqed!

Somehow just seeing this now. A quick thread on some (maybe) historical parallels. Breakfast cereal first starting being embraced in the US around the same time (and often via the same proponents of) that vegetarianism takes on a particular hypermasculine form at the end of the 19th century. (1/x)
Outstanding! That's very good!
Right there with Catharine Beecher
A powerful look at how women’s writing during the Seven Years’ War reveals the raw emotion, loss, and humanity often hidden in colonial archives. A moving reminder that behind every global conflict are intimate stories worth remembering. @tlecaque.bsky.social ageofrevolutions.com/2026/03/02/h...
I troubled my psyche by looking up compass classroom.
Instead of preparing for class, I wrote something I can't really share in class about 250 years of misogyny, from John Adams to historians who should have retired, to MAGA incels who should keep Alyssa Liu's name all the way out of their mouth.
