I took some well-needed time off after my viva and I've started working on my thesis corrections today! thankfully it's a very short list of corrections, but it's still nice to come in with a fresh perspective and make the final changes!
very excited for it to be available to the world soon 🎉

delighted to share that I passed my PhD viva with minor corrections today! 🎉
had a really positive viva with kind and constructive examiners @drannallewellyn.bsky.social & @drzoebaker.bsky.social!
looking forward to sharing more of my work soon, but first is celebrating & rest 💜
TW: harm to children.
My research into the effects of the UK government puberty-blocker ban has finally been published after peer-review.
It details the severe harm being caused to young trans people & children by the Starmer government's puberty-blocker ban.
Unlike Cass it is peer reviewed...
it's been a long and intense five years, but I'm so glad to have made it to the finishing line!! and on Trans Day of Visibility of all days! 🎉
big thank yous to my fantastic supervisors @rilleraaper.bsky.social and Vikki Boliver for all of their support to make it through! 💕
I submit my PhD thesis in 2 weeks (!!!!) - accepting any and all advice on how to keep level-headed and avoid (too many) tears over the next few days✨

I've been doing coworking streams throughout my PhD, but will be doing a LOT over March as I finish writing my thesis ready for my 31st deadline!!
if you would benefit from body doubling spaces, or are just curious about how livestreaming can be a productive community space, feel free to come by!
today while working on one of my PhD chapters, my cat Pepper stepped on my keyboard and pressed CTRL+A to select all, then deleted the entire document. I'm taking this as a sign that my writing needs improvements 😂

This is great! Would love to see more research in easy-read format!
My new paper has just been published! An easy-read formatted paper that encourages and asks questions about who we assume 'belongs' in #Geography (and academia more broadly)! Have you used easy-read before? I'd love to hear from others exploring inclusive research!

just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.
a screenshot of a days until countdown from Google, 99 days until 29th March 2025
officially less than 100 days until PhD hand-in!! 👀
!! omg hi Kat!! they look SO similar 🥰ðŸ˜
a photo of three brown and orange tortoiseshell cats sat on the corner of a desk in a row. Pepper on the left is a fluffy cat with a light brown side and a dark face looking to the right. In the middle is Jodie, a fluffy cat with a darker face with light spots above her eyes and next to her mouth, looking directly at the camera. Moose sits on the right, a shorter haired cat with a lighter face, looking away from the camera with slightly closed eyes
is #AcademicsWithCats still a thing? regardless I love to share pictures of my three tortie girls! 😻
Jodie (middle) is the mum of Pepper (left) & Moose (right) - a whole family of angry girls taking up my desk definitely helps with thesis writing!! 💕
hi! I'm Artie Waterman (they/them), a final year PhD student in Sociology of Education at Durham University researching the experiences of estranged students in UK higher education! 👋
I'm spending less time on Twitter & wanted to join #AcademicSky #PhDSky (or whatever exists here)! 🥰
