that being said, i definitely regret not releasing the GOTY video sooner, bc it lost out on a lot of potential views (2.7k, compared to the previous GOTY vid getting 30k). it's fine though. my patreon is doing decently, people are supporting me, it'll be alright

i think part of it comes from bein' immersed in webcomic culture, bc people were so demanding of artists to always update on time, or they'd call the cartoonist 'lazy'. and youtubers used to say "well if you stop updating frequently, your viewers will leave" but i think the math has changed on that.

i have to keep reminding myself that there are days after tomorrow. my ADHD/anxiety/depression brain cocktail makes me think i'm on the verge of my world shattering on the ever shifting horizon, and i have to recognize time's overall immateriality (besides aging of course).

I'm gonna move the Patreon release to sometime tomorrow night, just to give me a little more time on BGs. the youtube release should be next week.

update: i will have the WIP version up tomorrow, i just gotta do the backgrounds now. there's not gonna be an ending in the WIP version. but that'll get added along with the animation!

it's just a, well, time issue like everything. but i'd like to spend a couple of days this year learning proper mixing/mastering and then redoing the mastering/mixing on my albums.

i'd like my music to be better. this isn't a fish for compliments, i have tangible issues. my engineering's awful and i need to learn how to properly mix & master chiptune music (as well as chiptune w/ real instruments), thats the biggest thing. i also need to find the line between 'dense' and noise

the reason character designs that are circular/elliptical in nature are called "deceptively simple" is because drawing a good looking circle in a single stroke is basically a dark souls boss for artists

i know grips exist (and i'll be getting them) but it's weird that Nintendo didn't just give the joycons bulbous backs. it's not like it would impact horizontal joycon play that much, and, who's putting a fuckin switch 2 in their pocket? nobody, that wouldn't even fit in JNCOs

damn the switch 2 is the least ergonomic handheld i've ever held. it's so weird for nintendo to now be in this position after being the designer of the SNES and Gamecube controllers. like, even the N64 controller is more ergonomic despite it's hard edges. the wii u gamepad was a dream to hold

I remember reading about people moving states to live in Los Angeles for the reboot of G4 only to lose their job in less than a month because the owner was just uninterested because it turns out Olivia Munn wasn't into him, and also esports rights was very expensive.

this is especially a thing in Disney media, since basically the dawn of time. whether single, divorced, widowed or coupled, parents in Disney tv toons always seem to be ‘Doing Their Best’ Sweetheart Parents. the Pataki family in Hey Arnold is still the most interesting family in kids cartoon history

and hedgehogs parents kinda suck! good! why do so many cartoons have completely stable wholesome family dynamics? like my family is great, but i wouldn’t find them being the default in kids animated fiction to be very interesting if I was a kid. I don’t literally need to see my entire life reflected

too many kids cartoons sand the damn edges off of every character. protags are called “quirky” without actually being any weird at all. in SCI, hhog & oscar are super codependent, Susie does legitimately terrible things while still (sometimes) being sympathetic. characters fail in interesting ways

I do like summer camp island. It’s another lesson-a-day show but I like the intense (to a toxic degree) platonic relationship between hedgehog and oscar. and the gags are surprisingly good (and surprising!). damn Susie is toxic too. everyone’s a dang mess. More’a that please!
