It seems like there's no modern digital version of Tankoin AL-KL font available anywhere, but we do at least have clones that are really close to the original, such as HanWang GuinMedium-Gb5:
For over a decade I've been wondering what this freaking font is, because I kept constantly seeing it in Japanese gaming media from the 80s and 90s. It wasn't until in recent years when I discovered that the font is called Tankoin AL-KL (淡古印 AL-KL) and it was made by Shaken (写研) in 1979.

While going through I/O Magazines, I stumbled on this advert from the 1983-03 issue. It's for PSK PC Shop Kochi (パソコンショップ高知), a computer store that used to sell adult games, system-related software, and action games in the 80s. They ceased operations in 1990.

I was really surprised to see how every single version kept the exact same dimensions for the rooms. I was expecting it at least being different for the Game Boy port, but nope!
Cross Blaim (1986, MSX) is a Metroid-type game by dB-SOFT. It was originally advertised as a totally different game -- an action-strategy-RPG with side-scrolling battles that up to 3 players could play simultaneously. However, it got completely overhauled after the main designer left the company.
Commodore 64 version is the worst of the bunch and has the clunkiest controls and bubble movement. Personally, if you're only going to play one or two versions of Bubble Ghost, make it the Atari ST original and/or the Game Boy port. The latter is the only version with in-game music.
DOS version is the easiest of them, if you can emulate it. Gives the most lives.

Many covers of Bubble Ghost, a game originally created by Christophe Andréani for the Atari ST, released in 1987. It was later ported to Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, DOS, Apple IIGS, and Game Boy. There's also the 1990 remaster, Bubble+, for the Amiga and Atari ST.

This is the end result of game overing almost 100 times and starting the game from the very beginning over and over again. If the game seems easy from the footage, trust me, it isn't. 😱 Trial-and-error gaming, yo!!
Recently an Amiga game called Xeno Genesis was dumped. It was developed by Demantoid Productions and published by CAT Computer Club in Denmark in 1992. I've now made complete maps to the game! (:

This is a really solid game. A great showcase that MSX2 can do smooth scrolling.
Taito's Bubble Bobble is a great one and retains most (all?) secrets? Shame about not using FM music.
Contra was apparently outsourced to Bit2 to make. Weird that Konami didn"t make it by themselves. All weapon pickups are shit pretty much.
I have no idea what happened with this release. Taito seemed to have had big plans for it originally. It's interesting to see that FOUR programmers worked on this one.
I wonder what happened during the development of Rastan Saga for the MSX2. The box boasts about the game being on a 2M ROM cartridge, but over 600 tiles of graphics in it are actually unused. It also claims to have "a variety of new RPG elements", but the released game has none. 😒

As for this game itself: I don't care too much about it myself, but it does have some nice illustrations in the manual, and I do like the cover art. Out of all of Casio games, I enjoy Koneko no Daibouken and The Stone of Wisdom the most. Neither game has any boss fights, though...
There's so many MSX games without proper scans, no matter how popular or common a game is. People mainly buy games to have them in their collections and are playing them occasionally. There's not many who bother scanning these things. I'd scan more myself, but I'm always low on money. 🫠
Hahah, every time when you buy a CIB copy of a MSX game, I'll be there to beg you to scan covers and manual, this being no exception. ;)

I'm also fascinated by these fake screenshots used on most releases of Grog's Revenge. They're not of any of the released games. The game was released for the ColecoVision, MSX, and Commodore 64 (Amstrad CPC, Apple II, Atari 8-bit, BBC Micro, and ZX Spectrum versions were cancelled).
