What a view after a steep hike

Nice! Catching a train to Hakone right now. Hope the view holds!
The long “nose” of a Shinkansen train waiting at the platform.
I’m on a (bullet) train!
Has he ever argued anything political that doesn't boil down to either racism or pure self-interest? I hope he's as deeply unhappy as his arguments make him seem, though I doubt it.
Very late reply, but I'm travelling to Japan for the first time tomorrow and have noted down loads of these to try if I'm nearby. Thanks for writing them up.
I feel your pain
Tempted to throw the "we should all use signal" bomb into the "2024 Secondary Starters" parents' group, just to see what happens.
Assume Ed has just successfully coaxed the alpaca out of a bookshop. Kemi could never.
Realised recently from your Soho Radio photos that I recognise you from the school run. Only got one guess who that dad might be though, as my daughter's in year 6 so mostly takes herself in these days.
But now she appreciates every croissant she’s eaten since that little bit more.
Be easier and quicker to catch the Eurostar to Paris and back. Took my friend basically a whole day and the end result was not worth it.
Ever tried to make a croissant?
[We see a close up of a young white male, tanned, white teeth, coiffed hair clearly an influencer on social media. It is an image such as you see when social media posts are shown on the news. In the corner of the screen is named a location: DUBAI. He is staring slightly off-camera for several silent panels of the comic strip. His eyes move slightly. He is having a thought.] From off-screen a newsreader’s commentary comes: NEWSREADER: Extraordinary images here of an expat in Dubai [The influencer’s eybrows raise slightly] …Having their first ever geopolitical thought. [CUT TO a BBC news scene. The BBC newsreader CLIVE MYRIE is talking to an interviewee next to the screen showing the social media influencer’s face. The interviewee’s name is David Jones]. CLIVE MYRIE: To explain the significance of this moment we’re joined by David Jones, our Expat Thoughts correspondent DAVID JONES: Clive, this is momentous It was caught on film at the end of an Instagram post titled: ‘Dubai Is Brilliant’. [Pointing at the screen, the influencer’s expression still the same] You can clearly see in the eyebrows here, the dawning realisation that there *might* be something in the world beyond his dickhead self. It marks a *huge* departure from all the Dubai Expat’s previous thoughts. CLIVE MYRIE: Which are…? DAVID JONES: You've Got To Get Yourself Out Here Mate, Everything Is So Clean, I Don't Have To Pay Taxes, I Am Incurious As To Why I Do Not Have To Pay Taxes, and Spa. CLIVE MYRIE: And might we see an expansion of these new Thoughts in coming days? DAVID JONES: I think we can expect to see: “I Deserve To Be Airlifted By A Country I Pay No Tax To” CLIVE MYRIE: Mmm. [Ends]
So much truth in "me and my friends would've killed E.T. with hammers I can tell you that much"
obviously today is a huge embarrassment for Matt Goodwin and for Reform, which is something that we absolutely ought to celebrate, but we must also remember it's a huge embarrassment for Morgan McSweeney and Maurice Glasman and all the Blue Labour weirdos, and that's important to celebrate too :)
This "School Wars" bullshit has reached my son's school in Waltham Forest. I don't know who's behind it, but it's causing a huge amount of unnecessary worry for parents and students. Trying to stir up violence amongst schoolchildren is just sick.
Someone I know did several months specialised work on the Windsor estate, and their main takeaway was that Prince Andrew was a massive prick.
Sound off, I thought this was a wheelie bin
I've written a piece for the @econ-observatory.bsky.social on the history of GDS. Notably, why you need change both top down and bottom up incentives if you're aiming to help a large, federated organisation adopt radical change.
They’d be selling them in the market within a week of the first tear gassing.
What an absolutely vile human you’d have to be to make these fake race-baiting TikToks. That’s the world we’re living in I guess, where you can make serious money stirring up racial hatred. Great reporting from @londoncentric.media, glad to be a subscriber.
“among the East of England’s” doing a lot of heavy lifting. I quite like Norwich though.
Genuinely think London was much more fun when you had to look up bus routes on the bus stop, and use an A-Z map to navigate. Everything more exciting when you're always one wrong turn from being lost.
It's so exhausting to to be constantly told by American leaders that the defining policy of the 80 odd years during which the US became the most wealthy and powerful country in the history of the world was a grossly unfair failure for them.
This board suddenly sounds like a good thing.
We did this journey last summer (though starting from Euston and staying a couple of nights in Aviemore en route). Gorgeous scenery north of Inverness, and unexpectedly the best on-train WiFi I've ever used.
Pretty sure there was talk that he was too old to be PM (though mainly from the same people cheering on the much much older Trump)
Always find it staggering that Donald Trump is only three years younger than John Major, a Prime Minister who left office almost 30 years ago. None of our more recent Prime Ministers are older than this. I couldn't understand the "is Biden too old?" shit because they both seemed senile to me.
I just don't understand why last week, when the porn all started appearing, they just said "we will stop posting on X until it prevents grok porn".
Literally thousands of similar confected anti London posts get made every day. It’s bizarre.
