-Two days on my door & kids are lining up at the start of the day to greet me!
-iPad cart has never looked better!
-Even works at home!

Today is the day!! After weeks of prep, the fifth graders will follow the schedule, teach every lesson, run every routine, and completely own their learning. I will simply be a silent observer. #EduSky #LearnLAP #TLAP #SilentDay
Returning after an absence can be challenging. However, realizing you were missed definitely takes the edge off! #EduSky #tlap
Please send me a dm and we can connect.
I sent a DM.
Yes! A culture that values personal growth. I also believe that we are all stronger when we are all stronger. This goes beyond my classroom. We are better off when the kids next door (or even thousands of miles away) are better educated. Thanks for sharing!
I highly suggest you ask your students to write advice to teachers & learn from what they share.
If you do (or have done this), please share any pearls of wisdom here!
8/ Listen to your students. Ask us what we need and we will tell you.
7/ Put yourself in your students' shoes. Would you want to be a kid in your class?
6/ Make sure you let your students learn together in a community. It helps kids learn if we like each other!
5/ Don’t hide. Tell your students stories about yourself & make connections.
4/ Do lots of reading to the students in your classroom...no matter what age kids you teach!
3/ It's ok to show students that you are a human too. Tell them "sorry" if you make mistakes & hopefully they will too.
2/ Take breaks! Students and you need breaks throughout the day.
1/ Add joy to your classroom. Play games. Crack a joke in the middle of a long math lesson!
I asked my fifth graders to write "words of wisdom" for a student teacher, about to begin her career.
I've been teaching for 20 years & found inspiration in their advice. I thought others might as well.
Straight from the source, here are their top 8.

Still interested!
I am currently looking for intermediate classrooms to do a #MysteryMeet with my 5th grade class in MN. Please send a dm if your class would be interested! #tlap #learnlap #edusky

If I do my job well (& the next teacher does their job well) there is hope. Math, reading, science, critical thinking, collaboration, idea sharing, being a good person…all of it. #EduSky #AcademicSky
I really like the “Everything is in beta…” frame. Focus on feedback and LEARNING!
I teach 5th in MN and would be interested.
I’ve taught in public education for 20 years. Currently I teach 5th grade in MN. While I feel supported locally, the national narrative on our schools hurts millions of students.
As part of our “AM Jam” (morning classroom routine) we announce who gets the couch for flex seating that day. A few weeks ago we added a standing ovation to the announcement. It has been pretty special to watch each morning! #Belonging #Community #Wonder #EduSky
Shockingly, I haven’t ever read that one. Would it work for strong 5th grade readers?
Yes, this post was just the motivation I needed to get mine out too. My Ss will thank you!
It was recently made into a movie that is on Disney+. The book, naturally, is much better!
100%. Absolutely. I needed this reminder. Probably should buy the book too!! Thank you @larryferlazzo.bsky.social ! #EduSky
I’m hoping/expecting that the MysteryMeets to return!
