Listening to music how nature intended
Ive never heard a laptop sound worse. The problem preventing it from booting was that some ribbon cables were corroded and needed a clean. Sadly the pointer nub ribbon was a complete write off. Ill keep it in the laptop until i find a replacement. The noisy fan was easily dealt with using WD40
Got an amazing deal on a sony vaio pcg-1a1n (U1). Printed a replacement mouse nub (file is on thingiverse). Now it looks complete but still doesnt start
A full dump of wikipedia (w/o images) thats available offline. Very good to have!!
Sadly the IBM ThinkPad 230Cs is a complete loss. Such a shame since its a really rare machine. I hate NiMH batteries with every fibre of my being
Beautiful heathkit ib-1103. Its not calibrated (tested with 120kHz) and it unlinks when i use a higher timebase. Also i dont think there should be 3 decimal points
Bunker techno
Also a recent purchase: The NEC MobileGearII MC-R520. It runs windows CE and i have no idea what to expect. Sadly its missing its stylus, but for 10โฌ you cant complain
Have ordered a cool japanese electronics kit that includes a microcomputer (TI TMS1100 (4 bit)). Will post some more when it arrives
To top this one off, have a bit of Mono OPL3 goodness (the sony Picturebook is waiting on a new polarizer
Runs Doom OK, but has a few lags. Unsurprising, since its basically running a glorified 486DX
Works just fine now. (Cassette for scale)
Replaced the shitty proprietary connector with a standard dc barrel jack
Got two old subnotebooks/palmtops from japan (Vaio PCG-C1XF, Casio Cassiopeia Fiva 102S). One has vinegar syndrome and is in overall bad condition. The other however is in much better shape. Had to hotwire both but its good to see they both function and have healthy sounding hdds
An update for the FM-New7, i fashioned a cable that converts the 15khz RGB to Composite/S-Video. Had to custom order a PCB from @pcbwayofficial.bsky.social for it.
Got an absolute steal on these two subnotebooks/palmtops from the 90s. A Casio cassiopeia mpc-102m62s and a Sony VAIO pcg-c1xf. They were like 30โฌ and 15โฌ respectively
Great success!!

First test of the PTZ mount (fried one driver on accident so i had to switch wires)
Buying test equipment from japan is surprisingly cheap
Analog amp meters are the best
Nah, everyone knows that diseases are caused by bad smells. Why do you think the plague doctors had fragrant herbs and flowers in their beaks
Now u get to whack someone else
I call it the Gayser
You like vintage computing, dont you?
Might just be me, but i have been so incredibly tired and apathetic ever since 2025 began
