Heh.

I walked out of a restaurant forgetting to pay this weekend, while we're on embarassment.

*replacement

Before I did this regularly, I Instacart'ed a single square battery in the middle of the night so I could sleep. Learned later you can press the button to silence the warning.

Well until the lifespan of the detector itself is reached. Which is around 10 years. But 10 year replar would be so much better than yearly.

I don't want to deal with chirps in the middle of the night so I replace all my batteries on a schedule.

But there's power there already!

Please dear Maintenance Gods, enable smoke detectors to recharge rechargeable batteries so they never need to be replaced.

Smoke detectors these days are hard wired into your home's electricity (and interconnected so one detector triggers an alarm in all detectors). They still require batteries, presumably in case of a fire during a power outage.

Those batteries still need to be replaced - recommended yearly.

MAGA gets upset when Trump punches up - the only thing up from him being god - but MAGA never gets upset when he punches down.

Tzedakah isn't necessarily a Passover thing, but if we're going to live the Passover story and bring liberation into the present day, one of the most effective ways to do that here in DC is to subscribe to and support @51st.news.

The filibuster is what's preventing MAGA from enacting even more unpopular policies than they already are.

I think we let them FAFO by getting rid of the filibuster.

the team has so much heart, and the work is meaningful.

TMZ makes it sound like the government coverup of Epstein's network of abuse is a conspiracy theory, but that actually happened and is still happening! Nobody should do violence about it, but it's still a legitimate concern!

DHS murdering people and Trump taking billions from Americans in illegal taxes should be enough for impeachment and conviction, honestly.

Supporting local news like The 51st is one of the most powerful ways we can create accountability in this world. I support The 51st already and hope you will too.

@ICEgov on X:

"Stalking our ICE officers in your personal vehicle, like this video shows below, isn't journalism — it's activism.

"Our officers are out in the streets of Minneapolis conducting targeted enforcement operations on high priority criminal illegal aliens with horrid track records: Rapists, murderers, drug traffickers, gang members and more.

"Do not impede or obstruct ongoing operations."

@FordFischer on X:

"ICE agents laugh and smile in their vehicle as they use mild evasive maneuver to lose press and watchers by repeatedly signaling one direction and going another here in Minneapolis.

"This occurred after two parked agents’ vehicles were spotted and split up."

Following ICE to find and report news is, of course, journalism, but here's something the administration may not know: activism is also legal in this country!

Also, show us the part where law enforcement is in any way obstructed or impeded.

Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests

To tag on, we at @govtrack.us might be interested in some contract pieces if any politics reporters are looking for quick work.

You act like you've never seen a politician pander before. Or you think politicians actually represent the interests of a majority of their constituents? I just don't get why you think any of this is unusual for American politics or how it makes someone a foreign agent, unless you are trolling.

2 months ago 0 0 0 0

He doesn't say that. Nor is loyalty to an ally unusual. And many of his constituents are concerned about Israel - which is at least partially why he would make that statement in the first place. Nothing in your reply is connected to reality.

Don that sounds a little too close to the dual loyalty antisemitism trope. Lots of legislators have pet foreign policy issues and they are not typically accused of being a foreign agent.

She's finally getting it! She's basically a Rand Paul now. Hate her policy positions but at least she's sort of in reality now.

@amyewest.bsky.social This is interesting for documenting the plan to, to an extent, ignore the lack of appropriations.

If government is going to use an AI product, the regulations needs to mandate the inclusion of a bill of materials like CISA’s SBOM concept (www.cisa.gov/sbom)

If your model scraped 4chan or worse maybe it doesn’t need to be used in a government context

Risk of maternal death during pregnancy greatly underestimated, study finds A new study comparing deaths of pregnant people and of those who have an abortion show that risk of death due to pregnancy is three times higher than previously estimated.

"Our new analysis shows that it is far more dangerous to be pregnant than to have an abortion, and this gap in mortality risk is even larger than previously recognized.” - lead study author Maria Steenland.
In fact, the mortality risk of pregnancy is 44 to 70 times higher than from abortion.
