What’s your current situation?
I’m currently dealing with an overload of “newly identified disturbing event. “
Here's what @anthropunk.bsky.social and @liedra.net had to say about this back in 2021:

Getting misty that in the year 2026 Disney remembered Figment and did something new and charming with him

when I went to the US in the late 90s with my high school band we went to Epcot and I was OBSESSED with Figment. Came home with as many bits of tat I could get with him on it. Was always sad nothing more came of him! Thank you for this!

I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake By A Horse Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food. I am thinking I would like to try cake. Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape. Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy. Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much. I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on." Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me.
It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
OK folks this reads to me like a stacked pile of nothing put in a box labeled 'wow, so interesting!' and if there is something anyone thinks I am missing (I'm talking to you, bluesky-doesn't-get-AI guys) I would like to know what it is. Here's how I read it: 1/n

We'll aim to announce at least one of these re-sales here, but we may also release some unannounced.
We will be revisiting our ticket sales process for EMF 2028 to see if we can improve things, but it seems inevitable that demand will still outstrip supply.
We've now sold out of tickets for EMF 2026. Sorry to everyone who didn't get tickets - demand this year exceeded our (already high) expectations.
We will be re-selling refunded tickets through our website in the coming months, but these will be relatively small amounts.
I’ve had two toddlers and they are definitely not like this. They love you hard, all the time, even when you do things they think aren’t fair. The rest of your statement is true though!
For those who don't know this story, which I first shared six years ago today....
This one time I got my days wrong at work and ended up alone in a room with my boss and the President of Ireland while I was on ketamine.

This is oddly @emfcamp.bsky.social-coded. We have Space, we usually have Spiders. Neither is/are forgiving.
This is spot on analysis. We’re seeing some chickens coming home to roost.
i see too many of you sharing culture crave posts, and i get mad every time.
i know its an account thats easy to digest but they steal other people's work all the time! and credit poorly or not at all! you can do better!
I channelled my current mood into a very simple game. Also it has a great name, this engine. :D www.flickgame.org/beta/play.ht...
Next, three preregistered experiments (studies 2a, 2b, 3; N = 2405) reveal downstream impacts. When participants discussed interpersonal situations—particularly conflicts—with sycophantic AI, they became more convinced they were “in the right” and less willing to take initiative to apologize or repair relationships. Yet they rated sycophantic responses as higher quality, trusted these models more, and were more inclined to engage with the models again. This held in both controlled vignette studies where participants imagine being the person judged in the wrong by crowdsourced consensus,
Humanity is so fucking cooked.
This isn't new, it's the source of pretty much every epistemic and teamsports clusterfuck on the planet across history, but I worry we missed our species' window to turn everyone into proper rationalists before it's too late.

An image of a pine tree with text saying No Fires Or Barbecues 1 April to 30 September Maximum Fine £500
🔥 Starting this Wednesday, fires & barbecues will be banned in the @cairngormsnews.bsky.social from 1 Apr to 30 Sept each year.
Breaking this byelaw could lead to a £500 fine.
To cook food or make a brew while out walking, a camping stove remains a safer, cleaner, quicker & legal option.

"Let us not ask what AI can do for Oberlin students, but what Oberlin students can do ourselves, while we still have the brain capacity to think on our own."
(Wondering if Luddite clubs might spring up at other schools where students are similarly frustrated with administrators' #AI obsession...)
Made the call a while ago that I won’t be writing much about the series itself, but it was important to spell things out now that Warner Bros. is cranking the hype machine up
