The DC Council agreed unanimously that MPD should report federal agents who use force.
Mayor Bowser just rejected this basic move to protect DC communities & chose instead the side of Trump, ICE, & this regime.
We call on the Council to override this veto now.

When the expanded occupation of DC began in August, our hotline became hotline for all fed and police activity in the District. In response, MSMA operators stepped up, often doubling and tripling up shifts to meet the need.

Jan 20th marked one year since the launch of the MSMA hotline. Recently, our hotline team gathered to celebrate that anniversary!
In our first year, MSMA operators fielded over 8,000 incoming calls, did hundreds of intakes, and received hundreds of accompaniment requests for DAN.

CM Nadeau in support. Reminds Council about the hearing she held on human rights issues with immigration policing back in October. We don't have authority over feds but we do have authority over MPD.
CM Lewis George is also supporting this bill. Says we cannot perform oversight in a black box and cites similar laws passed in Chicago, LA, and other cities across the country. She has called MPD for information on the arrest of DC residents and been told to call the feds.
Says not just an effort in documentation. Reads from the probable cause affidavit in Phillip Brown's case. The affidavit submitted by MPD says they pulled him over and they arrested him, but doesn't say a single word about shots being fired.
