Here are the 20 most challenged trusts on performance against the NHS's main elective target: % of patients waiting less than 18 weeks to start treatment. Princess Alexandra in Harlow is bottom (42%) v national ave 59%. Long term target 92%. Target for March 2026 is 65%.

Better news on long waiters: Number of patient cases waiting over 52 weeks drops again – down by over 10% from 222k in Nov to 200k in December. This is 2.7% of waiting list - lowest proportion waiting 52+ since August 2020. New target is for this to b c.70k by March 2026
