This Is Just To Say
I have turned off
the AI features
that were in
the update
and which
you were probably
hoping
to monetize
Fuck you
they were stupid
so unnecessary
and so annoying

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
The appointment of a rightwing Labour drone to any public body is a sure-fire sign that it has been captured by corporate and reactionary interests and will shortly slide into irrelevance. Backwards indeed.
Totally fine that large parts of the British government are jumping into bed with a company whose public statements are "we are, at a fundamental level, absolutely batshit crazy neofascists".
The New Yorker, "Wondering why people are pining for old technologies - CD players, VCRs, Walkmans. What's behind our longing for inconvenience?"
Inconvenience? I just had to dig seven pages deep to find the unsubscribe for one of the four TV subscriptions I need, I'm measured & optimized against in my supermarket, lamps, music, games, and travel. Every service I love gets enshittified to buy billionaires yachts worth 100 times my house.
NASA astronaut Christina Koch sits in an U.S. Navy MH-60S Seahawk attached to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 23 on the flight deck of the San Antonio Class amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) after returning from space on Apr. 10, 2026.
This picture of Astronaut Christina Koch after the Artemis landing is frankly incredible and beautiful.
Ironically the BBC stumbled on a really important story: Desperate asylum seekers being forced to turn to fraudulent fee-charging “advisors” to navigate a system that is intentionally impossibly baroque and from which all sources of free advice have been removed.
But no: they chose Fake Gay Panic.
It’s genuinely staggering how little substance there is to today’s instalment of the BBC’s attempt to create a national crisis out of a few unproven allegations of immigration fraud 1/
BBC News leading all its bulletins on demands by former Government advisor Lord Robertson for more defence spending, without at any point mentioning his current paid senior role for US defence lobbyists
defeated by the Greens, Thangam Debbonaire was rewarded with 3 lobbying jobs , working for firms representing South West Water, Serco and AI firms - Labour MP's will ignore voters who want them to go left if corporations give them jobs for staying right morningstaronline.co.uk/article/debb...
One of the problems with people not sharing things with attribution, AI etc is that we (rightly) don’t trust things that are real. This picture is making the rounds today and I’ve seen multiple ppl say it is fake. It isn’t!!!!

If you live in, say, Finchley and want to send a birthday card to someone in, say, Brixton, it's now cheaper to get the bus there and stick the card through their door yourself. At least you'd know it'd got there.
When the US admits that they killed any “military-aged men” who walked within 3km of a downed pilot they mean any boy lanky enough to be a teenager and any middle-aged man able to walk unaided with a cane got shot in the head for the crime of walking.
Under the Geneva Conventions, deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, such as power plants, bridges, and water systems constitutes a war crime.
Cool. Like with the 2 child benefit cap a load of MPs *did fully* understand it was driving child poverty *and also* that child poverty costs the state more in future…
but they wanted to impress voters who didn’t understand that and commentators who didn’t care, so they did a uh hard trade-off
These two things are of course not connected in the slightest. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
Alan Moore on now.
This feels weird. A lot of reporting is sounding very much like "how long will this take to get back to normal" when there's no sign in the short term that normality will return at all
It's like 2020 Covid reporting
This is, quite literally speaking, a white supremacist, anti-feminist patriarchal project. If women must look and behave a particular way to be granted the status of womanhood, compliance with those standards is required to participate in society.
the girl guides in the UK just kicked out all their trans members specifically bc they were threatened with a lawsuit from a rowling-funded group
if Anita Bryant was still alive and promoting Florida orange juice, you couldn't pay me enough to drink it. how is Harry Potter any different?
here is a timeline of JK Rowling's transphobia: web.archive.org/web/20241225...
& here is where her HP money is going: www.advocate.com/news/jk-rowl...
There is nothing the world needs less than more tech execs taking over journalism. Every example so far has shown us that that’s the stupidest, worst possible move for journalism and the public.
The disinformation being spread, particularly by anti-trans activists (who are in lock step with the Christian Right) is wild. Abortion is still tightly regulated and gate kept and still requires two doctors to agree. The limit remains 24 weeks. 90% of abortions happen before 10 weeks.
I've said it before: I genuinely consider it a moral imperative that people my age and up bang the drum about what the Internet used to be so those younger know that there's nothing inherent about what it is now. The Internet doesn't have to be this; its culture can and has belonged to people.
School bans Twilight & Terry Pratchett books. Their rationale / excuse (hidden at end of article)?
"the school admits that the categorisations of the books were written using AI, writing: “Although the categorisation was generated using AI, I consider this classification to be broadly accurate.”"
I mean yes, it's all very hard.
On the other hand, the world is poised on the brink of several different kinds of oblivion, thanks to people who don't want to do these sorts of things.
It's not Green policies that pose an existential risk. It's all the others.
I'm deadly serious with this. A huge reason we're in the mess we're in is because the media treats evidenced policy like housing the homeless and decriminalising drugs as absurd, outrageous nonsense, and "you can't even say blackboard any more because of woke" as serious and meaningful.
