The article argues that the growing chorus blaming judicial review for delays in housing, energy and infrastructure in Ireland is a distraction from deeper issues — under-resourcing, rushed legislation, and flawed decision-making. - @attractaub.bsky.social in @irishexaminer.bsky.social

You can also listen to a podcast with @sjoycek.bsky.social where she explains what really happened with the Greater Dublin Drainage project and why the court process accounted for no more than 6 months of a 14-year delay.

Sudanese refugees in Chad: ‘I still hear the sound of shooting in my ears’ Having escaped a war where murder and rape seem systematic, some 1.3 million people from Sudan struggle to meet their daily needs in Chad - while bearing physical and emotional scars

The last story in this piece is one of the most harrowing things I've heard. The Sudanese refugees I met in Chad have suffered so much and are suffering so much and they are so kind, generous and dignified. www.irishtimes.com/world/africa...

The costs involved for compliant importers and retailers to implement TPD is huge, the fact that the legislation may not be doing what it is supposed to (ensuring registration of all components of tobacco products before sale and tracking same) is very concerning.

Bleeding out from moderate shrapnel wounds. Dying from illnesses doctors don’t have time to treat. Going blind waiting for medical evacuation abroad. These are the manifold victims of Israel's war on Gaza's health system.

Who does this government serve? Protest crackdowns and neutrality debates spark outrage A speaking rights row, moves away from neutrality, and garda action against anti-war protesters are all signs of a worrying trend for democracy

This morning a student in DCU was arrested for protesting in support of Palestine with no clear charge.

As @dondeniamh.bsky.social outlines here, we are witnessing a systematic erosion of the democratic process and the rule of law that needs to be resisted.

Is this it?

Does cond of planning require bond remains in place until completion & have the council ensured that has occurred. If bond has been allowed to lapse you may be able to make council responsible due as competent authority. Legal representation will probably be required unfortunately. Bonds are tricky.

Coillte may think they can go back to business as usual with the Greens out of their way but we've signed Ireland up to the EU's Nature Restoration Law and Coillte, as the largest landowner in Ireland, will have to play a huge part in that.

It’s the vaccine / environmental law problem. They have been successful for so long, people think they are no longer necessary, not least because no one remembers how bad things were in their absence.
