Does it seem unlikely that an authoritarian US government uses the Cloud Act to get research data from foreign universities to take advantage of?

I really wish for universities ditching Microsoft for open source alternatives. Problem remains, that Microsoft makes the licenses for student accounts provided by the universities free. Therefore it is much cheaper to stay with Microsoft and an out-of-the-box working system like M365

Garuda Linux Draws a Line on Age Verification as Arch Stays Keeps Mum itsfoss.com/news/garuda-...
I'm not even using @garudalinux.org (yet) but just for their statement in that debate I decided to donate to the project!
I keep getting surprised by our friends from over the big water.
Like it is not yet another war but just a big F for every internet user. The next big F besides the age verification OS stuff ofc.
But if EU wants to step back from US-Tech we are the evil ones, right.

Worried Europe is too reliant on US tech? Our data shows youβre likely in the majority.
Surveying 3,000 people in the UK π¬π§, Germany π©πͺ, and France π«π·, we found that 8 out of 10 consumers are concerned about US tech dependence. πΊπΈ
Let's dig into our findings...

Switched from ChatGPT to Le Chat. After the first week, no problems or issues while working or studying for me.
What browser are you using? Any recommendation for something without AI-stuff baked into it?

What do you use for enterprise IT infrastructure monitoring? Like host stats of linux/win servers, microservices etc.? Currently looking for alternatives for the system we use.
Icinga, Grafana-Prometheus stuff, what are you people using?

The first picture shows two beings hugging; the giant white dog is called "Linux", the human is called "new users". The second picture shows an older person smirking; they are called "Veteran Linux users who are just happy that more people are appreciating it."
We need more such people! π€ π§
Cat S62. On Monday I've even ordered a new phone :D
Now I'm back in the old Cat S61 until the new one arrives. But dayum. Like all the TOTP and MFA stuff I had to recover such a hustle to just get back to work...
the Android on my phone just bricked itself out of nowhere for now reason.
Factory reset doesn't work. Just flashing Android onto a sd card and install it like a desktop OS? Naaa, that would be to easy you need a phd in Google for this... Good thing is, no calls untill the new phone arrives

the story and the maps are such a welcomed upgrade after the last two, at best mediocre, expansions!
I used Nobara before. Just had issues getting my work VPN to work so I ditched it. If the issue is fixed by now I'm totally willing to go back to Nobara! It was such a great experience
Since the AURs are down again, what are valid, easy to use OS alternatives? OpenSuse, Fedora, Void? Any other suggestions?

I finished writing my last paper before I can start with my Bachelor's thesis.
I wrote and formatted the whole paper in #LibreOffice.
10/10 as easy to work with as Word/M365 or whatever you call it. Not missing any functionalities, highly recommend!
