And they’re off. The annual mass escape from Dublin Castle, commemorating the real jailbreak of 1592 by Red Hugh O’Donnell & the O’Neill Brothers. Competitors will cover 62km through the night, across the mountains to Glenmalure Valley. That’s if they make it, unlike Art O’Neill, who died en route.

I look like The Wreck of the Hesperus. Until recently, I was convinced we had a magic mirror in our bathroom because when I was brushing my teeth at night, I thought I looked vaguely human and quite passable. It only dawned on me a few weeks ago that I take my glasses off when I put on my pyjamas.

I am regularly called 'Mum' by my students and, being teenage boys, the rest of the class is very sensitive about it, as you can imagine. In more recent years, I have had 'Nan' once or twice, which galls me, even though I am a grandmother.

For once, I finished the book on time! It was submitted to the eternally patient editors at educate.ie

This is definitely one to share with the fifth and sixth years. Lots of food for thought.

I still have to master properly uploading a profile picture. It's a bit 'Kilroy was here' at the moment.

I've just joined. Struggling a bit with uploading the profile picture, obviously! Will get there...
