1. Your goal is to retrieve your treasure from a monstrous entity.
2. All you need is a pen and paper, but expensive software makes it much easier.
3. The rules are constantly being updated, but they’re still shackled to a system from the 1970s.
I love it when we refuse to settle for the way things are as the way they have to be. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/13/n...
… … I am going to be shriek howl cackling into next week….! 💀
It’s profoundly ignorant to suggest that the Pope should be fighting crime on behalf of the Catholic Church. Anyone who was remotely familiar with Roman Catholicism would know that that’s what Daredevil is for
"Moon joy" is real, but it has an important lesson for us too: Public service and public life is a gift and something to treasure—the uncommon chance to do something for a cause bigger than yourself.

This!! Why would some fake plastic fantasy version of your restaurant make me want to go there more? It makes me want to go there less.
“Why aren’t college students protesting” stories are almost always wrong (they are protesting), omit crucial context (they were brutally punished for protesting before), and somehow suggest that 19 yr olds have more moral responsibility than elected officials three times their age
The use of “hallucinate” is a stroke of true evil genius in the AI world.
In ANY other context we’d just call them errors & the fail rate would be crystal clear.
Instead, “hallucinate” implies genuine sentience & the *absence* of real error.
Aw, this software isn’t shit! Boo’s just dreaming!
Very nice! And yeah that sounds like a completely normal day!
10k steps is a very average workday for me! Walk to subway, go out to grab lunch, meet a friend for dinner, take the subway home. That's 10k steps without even thinking about it.
Community-oriented government services led by community-oriented people! I love that 311 is staffed by real New Yorkers who have real knowledge of our city.
Gen X collectively reliving Challenger, Columbia and Cold War nuclear holocaust anxiety all in the same week is a fucking lot, y'all.
Simultaneously pleased I’m on a corporate account so I’m not paying for it, but annoyed that I won’t be able to downgrade on principle

How many thousands of people are gonna get charged $70 a month because they didn't read to the third paragraph of this fucking email
A terrific essay on this matter
The Print Shop was my first graphic design software, on the Apple IIgs
Oh what a perfect mood for today. I may copycat you!
Social movement scholar here again. So, why protest?
Nihilists were out yesterday arguing that "protests don't do anything."
A short 🧵:
More targeted activist and mutual aid groups are there in force to offer next steps. If you’re looking for a group to identify with and do more work with, you may well find them, or they’ll find you! If politics isn’t working well enough, community like this can still help.
Even if these protests have little direct result on a political level, they absolutely do bring communities together. A place to voice our rage, find solidarity, make connections, see that we’re not alone. It’s important for everyone to see how many of us do not agree with this administration. And—
Yes, it is deeply frustrating that our politicians have continued on their destructive course with no substantive opposition from a democratic system that is meant to keep them in check, and the visible protest and rage from millions of citizens doesn’t seem to push them at all. But even so—
patiently explaining to national political reporters that the people who organize No Kings are also doing the daily advocacy, voter registration, mutual aid, and immigrant defense, and that just because the cameras show up for the big crowd does not mean that work did not exist before and after
"Hobbyless behavior" really does nail a certain type of person!
I was just browsing illustration portfolios for an upcoming project, and it really sank in this time how many of the artists are based in Europe. Gee, what could make pursuing illustration seriously as a career so much more viable there!
Plenty of people call 311 with reasonable requests and questions. There are also people who call with slightly more... memorable inquiries.
Here are some of our favorites from the NYC 311 20th Anniversary Report 👇
ME: oh a little Zohran video for St Patrick's Day, probably just celebrating Irish culture, maybe a few green beer jokes
ZOHRAN (2 minutes in): ...and that's why King Leopold I of Belgium is a big wet bitch. Furthermore...

"a british warlord named coroticus"

I ADORED Firefly when it first aired. There is a lot about it that still resonates with me. But this is right on.
