My femme neighbor who is moving out gave me 10 bags of clothes and shoes that I’m passing along to @seattletru.bsky.social outreach crew but what they really need are men’s clothes for tall skinny men and belts and shoes for men. Waterproof stuff, warm stuff, layers.

This feeling is why I say every Transit Opening Day is the best one.

For one glorious day, our system is perfect and we have it all.

We'll be back to advocating for more trains and more buses, more places, more often on Sunday.

But tomorrow? Tomorrow we party.

That's why it's all the more important to celebrate wins like this.
We're opening a world-first floating light bridge across Lake Washington!
High capacity rapid transit will connect the East and West sides for the first time ever!

Talking then begins:

Transit riders, are you feeling down?
Does it feel like everything sucks?
Is the weight of a shitty government ruining your day?
Yah. We know.
And the times?
They ain't easy.

Millions of people will make use of this line over the next century. And public transit is there for all of them. Any kind of trip, at any time of day, without excuse. And soon, we'll even have night bus service, for when it needs maintenance :)

Thank you, @sound-transit.bsky.social 🫶

We want to acknowledge that the times are tough. They hurt - and indeed, they hurt on purpose. By design. But it doesn't have to be that way. Government can do good.

Level boarding, and low floor accessible. Powered by a first-in-the-world floating rail bridge, an incredible feet of engineering.

And we're so thankful for the thousands of workers who made it a reality.

Lots of great stuff in this letter.

It’s time to reach Vision Zero, it’s time to fund and realize a world class transit network, and it’s time to make a city that’s accessible and a vibrant place to live.

Seattle, WA — The MASS (Move All Seattle Sustainably) Coalition—an alliance of 13 organizations working toward a safer, more accessible, and climate-aligned transportation system—released a public letter today calling on Mayor Katie Wilson to take swift, visible action on a set of near-term priorities. With Wilson’s election—and her
deep roots in the movement, the MASS Coalition is stepping forward with renewed clarity, unity, and ambition. As its letter notes, Mayor Wilson’s “recent electoral victory creates a historic mandate and an opportunity to translate progressive campaign commitments into
real results for Seattle,” citing her long record as a transit advocate and her previous leadership of the coalition. Wilson co-founded the MASS Coalition in 2018 to connect Seattle’s diverse and vibrant neighborhoods, minimize reliance on private vehicles, achieve Vision Zero, make Seattle carbon-neutral, create walkable communities, and ensure equitable access to transportation for all people.

A Vision for a City That Moves People, Not Just Cars
The coalition’s collective recommendations span four areas—mobility, accessibility, livability, and climate—and emphasize projects that are urgent, equitable, and feasible. These actions, MASS writes, “will improve Seattle in multiple, mutually reinforcing ways” and represent significant early opportunities for the Wilson administration. Its letter calls
for redesigning Seattle’s most dangerous streets, expanding frequent transit, and filling critical gaps in the bike network: not as isolated projects, but as the backbone of a
transportation system that allows people to move safely and reliably without needing a car. The letter also urges the City to strengthen neighborhood livability and ensure communities can meet daily needs close to home through people-centered planning and
more connected urban design. It also calls for stronger climate accountability by requiring transportation and related projects to demonstrate how they su…

Dear King County Council, Our County needs more buses! Our transit network deserves more investments and are a necessary to meet King County’s equity goals. We urge you to investigate a countywide transit funding measure for an election within the next year.
Why Now? A robust bus network, coupled with recent investment in Link Light Rail, provides a viable and affordable way to navigate the region. Car dependency puts a financial burden on families and limits access to economic opportunity. During these troubled economic times there is new urgency to support non-drivers!
Our coalition is excited and motivated to work with you and community leaders across the county.
