Copying one of Britain's most unpopular people. Keep up the good work, Reform.

I wish they would filter out the nodding heads behind him. Especially the one in the Ian Dury costume.
It seems to me that, even if it is applied consistently, it's a bloody stupid thing to do. Would probably only work in an item where all/most parties were going to be discussed in a short timeframe.

Shouldn't be.

Do you know whether they are?
C'mon @luke-akehurstmp.bsky.social , this ain't right. Have a word.
I checked this too.

In local election purdah.
This is not normal. At all.
The last time I heard him on the radio, he sounded like a Brummie John Arlott on methadone. Not an enjoyable listen.
What should have happened: the REIT paid no tax but the Tice companies holding shares in the REIT paid £98k tax on the dividends they received. What actually happened: none of the companies paid any tax.
Our new report: Richard Tice signed accounts wrongly claiming £98,000 of tax exemptions
A 🧵 with the evidence:
Blimey.
Isn't this the guy that wants to get his hands on public sector pensions and invest them more "efficiently"?
Best way to be.
Recently booked a summer week in France in a 2 bed gîte with a garden that's almost 100m long. Accom + Chunnel + overnight hotel stay en-route: £800.
One week in a comparable cottage in Northumberland (much smaller garden): £1600.

A reminder that this democracy can get rid of incompetent, destructive leaders. Hello 🇺🇸 👋
Rhodri Evans on BBC's Media Show. Says 10% of staff will be cut. Then becomes very vague about broader savings; "we have to look at everything". So they haven't yet looked at everything but have somehow concluded that they should get shot of 1 in 10 staff? Curious.

I experienced that at a festival in Manchester in 2004. Pixies were followed by the headliners, Stereophonics. About 50% of the punters left as the 'phonics took to the stage.
It's Bowie and "Heroes" for me. I'm now immune to its charms.
I'll be interested to hear his explanation on Monday. Don't fancy his chances.
Oh FFS!

On the iPlayer, it often takes an hour or more for live programmes to appear for viewing. Gawd knows what they do in that time. I have visions of blokes in lab coats rewinding the spool with a pencil.
Your idea's great, but I'd still want a transcript. Would be an excellent source to slice & dice.
The BBC does correct others but certainly not consistently. The technology exists to do this on the fly, although I'd prefer some human intervention.
Apart from anything else, it would be fascinating to watch/read and could actually improve politicians' accuracy/honesty, over time.
I really don't get why they can't routinely do this for every claim uttered by politicians on their flagship programmes.
Failing that, publish full transcripts and let open sourcers have at it.
Punishment: three strikes and they're banished from the Politics Live sofa.

The absolute state of it. Yes, America... vote for somebody off the telly. What could possibly go wrong?
