The Gold Dust in the Schools White Paper How we could start to put schools at the heart of inclusive communities.

They can still leave the legal implementation of admissions policy with Adjudicator but still look at impact, who attends the school, who leaves and why. Not doing so is a choice

Thank you, Warwick. Really appreciate that.

The only newsworthy aspect of the far-right anti-migrant protests currently is how pathetically small they are.

Last summer 60,000 people came to the Restore Nature Now protest in London, and the BBC didn’t even report on it.

Just watched Chappell Roan’s performance at Reading on iPlayer. Even more excited about being the oldest man in her crowd at Edinburgh next week!

Taylor Swift, Sam Fender twice, Jamie Webster, Bruce Springsteen, The Lathums and Chappell Roan over the last 12 months. Best year of music!

Another controversial opinion: we should not have millionaires as a result of selling services to schools.

Government launches Orgreave inquiry, 40 years after clashes at miners’ strike Move follows decades of campaigning over violent policing and collapsed prosecutions at South Yorkshire coking plant

This is a hugely significant moment and long overdue. Time for the truth about Orgreave & the actions of the South Yorkshire police before, during and after to be heard.

Is a drive to stop bad practice missing from the inclusion agenda? Leaders call for scrutiny of admissions, pupil movement and the impact of sanctions on students with special educational needs and disabilities

“If we are serious about inclusion, we should be looking at who attends a school, how representative it is of its local community, how long pupils stay on roll for, who leaves & why, & who goes into elective home education.” @jonnyuttley.bsky.social cited in TES: www.tes.com/magazine/new...

Is a drive to stop bad practice missing from the inclusion agenda? Leaders call for scrutiny of admissions, pupil movement and the impact of sanctions on students with special educational needs and disabilities

"Ofsted’s focus on inclusion is welcome, but @ascl-uk.bsky.social's @pepediiasio.bsky.social questions its ability to accurately assess this." @jonnyuttley.bsky.social is also sceptical that the Ofsted inclusion criteria will work. @tesmagazine.bsky.social www.tes.com/magazine/new...

Really excellent article @johngroberts.bsky.social with dangerously sensible points from @jonnyuttley.bsky.social @jarlathobrien.bsky.social @warrencarratt.bsky.social and others.

The inclusion element of the new Ofsted toolkit is dangerously tokenistic and not looking at intake makes it pointless.

I love what you say about mainstream. Vitally important as a system we stop selection via admissions, fair banding, saying we can’t meet need etc. Otherwise when we compare models in schools we compare apples and pears.

9 months ago 5 0 1 0

Interesting thoughts, Jim. Maybe fairer without the (presumably unintentional) tying of All Saints to the model you criticise. Have seen this school in action & it’s superb. 10% EHCPs in school with schools in the area selecting pupils using fair banding & rejecting nearly all EHC consults

‘We know, in our heads & our hearts, that early gaps widen into a lifelong gulf. It doesn’t have to be this way, and it damn well shouldn’t be.’ Love this from @jonnyuttley.bsky.social on why Best Start will tackle poverty & disadvantage - a Tory legacy & national shame.

The Knowledge: A map out of eduction's poly-crisis This report doesn't just call for a system based on professionalism - it models it, and shows us how to build it

Great piece from @moremorrow.bsky.social on FED futures report mapping a way forward for our fragmented education system. Moving past an outdated compliance model & building a system based on the principles of inclusion, workforce & partnership.
