The fact that a politician in 2005 made a decision which has impact long after they have left politics feels a long way from where we are now.

The policy was shutdown in 2011 but it has had a big impact on a 22 year old in 2026.

You don’t see many politicians making decisions that outlast an election cycle. Spoke to youngest lad we adopted in 2010 (he was 5 then) and he has just received his Child Trust Fund.

As a Looked After Child when he was born, he was granted £250 plus an additonal £250. It has just paid out £1995

End of my first half term at a new school.

I usually land in schools that are in some level of crisis. This time the school I have joined is settled, already improving and well staffed.

First time in ages that I haven’t been on the point of falling over at the end of a half term.

Loving it.
