I think the greatest trick for getting good at creative work i know is - finish making as many mediocre things as possible. Just finish stuff, again and again. Share it or donβt, but put a bow on it, put it aside, make the next thing, repeat.
Some of my new flowers got stomped by deer though... π’
Came across one of these little guys while working outside yesterday. We've been converting a large section of our lawn into meadow and native wildflowers over the past couple of years and I'm glad to see more variety of pollinators en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euphori...

Plus I know it is a silly feeling because of bots and AI and such, so traffic and analytics are not a reliable gauge anymore, but still...
Let me turn that off, please? Save me from myself.
I'm gonna be honest, I really dislike that social media and media platforms allow you to check your analytics and post insights. The temptation for self inflicted psychic damage is too strong, especially when it comes to creative endeavors.

Voyager really is such a comfy show.
Every generation needs its Galaxy Quest: a movie that, despite every individual element screaming that it can't be good, is actually good
I grew up watching X-Files, Sliders, the Star Treks, Farscape, and Highlander with my mom and being able to tune into a new episode every week? We need to bring that kind of bonding experience back. Binge watching is the pits.
Yes, one can argue that a 6-13 episode run can have tighter, more succinct storytelling, I think with sci-fi especially you need a longer run to really build the world and the characters. Otherwise it seems shallow.
Bring back the old practical effects and 22 episode format. Sci-fi now is so cynical.
Watching old episodes of Voyager and Farscape for the nostalgic warm and fuzzies and I'm reminded of how much I miss those old sci-fi shows.
NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.
"Peopleβs persistence drops... theyβre also not willing to try without AI.β
