Not much gets me out of bed in the afternoon but when Daz messages ‘Hedgehog!!’ from the kitchen I spring into action! This one was snuffling around for food so I took them a snack which they are enjoying very much

The slab used to be in the flowerbed but the robins are nesting there so we had to move it. It gets warm in the sun and she likes sitting on warm things. The mesh behind her is a fence around the robin nest area to keep them safe

I saw my GP in late January and was talking about my art and she said to me ‘you seem like the kind of person who will find a way to do it’.

Can’t believe she was right.

I always thought making this kind of art was impossible for me and I had to just stick to silly cartoons.

I cannot explain how happy it makes me to be able to draw in a way I only ever dreamed of before.

I used to get fed up if a drawing took more than a few hours and looking back I think that was a lot due to pain.
Now I’ve worked out a way that doesn’t hurt so much and I’m better at pacing myself, I’m working on drawings that take 10-15 hours over a week or two.

The eye and beak has some detail. The shape and colours of the lichen stick have been roughed out. The shadows on the underside of the stick are more detailed.

Even though I’m still only working on the simple shapes of the shadows on the stick, I can see it coming to life. Art is magic.

I miss the olden days* when I used to make a good living from my art 😭 I know no one has money any more and I dont blame anyone for not wanting to spend the money they do have on silly cat things, but ughhh.

This is a timelapse from mid-December till now from the bird hide at north pools, Portbury Wharf Nature Resernve. I take a photo every week. I love watching the changing of the seasons. Can't wait till I have a year of these. #PWNR

Haven’t done much this weekend as my hands are angry I did a tiny bit of sewing.
I am loving all the colours in the lichen.
