Delighted to be part of the "Fact, Fiction, and the In-Between: How Japanese Studies Can Foster Student Literacy in an Age of Dis- and Misinformation" alongside Erin Brightwell, Malgorzata Citko-DuPlantis, Jingyi Li and Kevin Mulholland at hashtag#MLA26.
T&T student @veekennedy.bsky.social recently published "A Pre-Pandemic Snapshot of a Culture of (in)Access: Accommodation Statements in the Document Ecology of the First-Year Writing Programs in Michigan" in WPA: The Journal of Writing Program Administration: www.wpacouncil.org/aws/CWPA/pt/...
Such an odd feeling, to hold the article that was once one of your master’s theses in your hands in one of those big, fancy journals in your field.
T&T students Matthew Bryan, Emily Proulx, @veekennedy.bsky.social, and Ricky Finch, and faculty Joel Schneier and Sherry Rankins-Robertson recently published "Sustaining Collective Actions: Program Assessment During Transitional Moments." Check it out! compositionforum.com/issue/56/pro...
Uhm. There goes my afternoon writing.
One thing this AWS shortage has taught me is the amount of academics who prefer to begin their weeks with grading and emails on Monday morning. Can we talk about how many of us apparently structure our day in that order? 🤣
Twenty minutes into Pokemon Legends: Z-A and I could write an entire second dissertation just about this.
漢検はやっぱりすごく日本的ですよね、アメリカのに😢
Once again inordinately jealous of my cat, Stitch, and her lack of thoughts. Head so empty.
I think I teach and present with my hands and then I see videos of it happening and I realize the problem is more profound than anticipated. 😅
Tuesday was my first teaching day of the semester, and Jimmy Buffett’s “Volcano” was stuck in my head the whole day. That seems foreboding in a way I can’t quite put my finger on.
I’m old.
After watching Daredevil: Born Again, I’d like to humbly ask that Charlie Cox be worse at his job.
I got my back to school vaccines and I’m happy to report that the brain fog has completely turned off my ability to think and my mind is at peace, highly recommended, 10/10.
I need to not be left unsupervised in a Lowe’s like, ever again.
After a solid 15 years of having a recurring nightmare about signing up for a college class, not knowing I was enrolled, and then getting an F, I have now unlocked the teacher version. It’s similar, where you somehow don’t find out that you’ve been assigned a class until the term is over. 😵💫😮💨
From the Q&A of my panel presentation at Console-ing Passions 2025 at Georgia State. Wonderful meeting presenters Chelsea Brtis from UNC Charlotte and Brandon Blackburn from UC Irvine. 💕
When you’re trying to read for fun and still the fates find a way to tell you to “polish your writing” #PhdLife
My caprese toast game has improved as summer has gone on.
Occasionally I will do things like run around SeaWorld for a shiny metal. The armadillo definitely wanted to know why so many people were running through his house.
Cohort 3 of the Civic Engagement & Voting Rights Teacher Scholars
My adventure at Clemson at Clemson for the Civil Engagement & Voting Rights Teacher Scholars program began today with a walking tour of some of the historic Campus, including the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Next week I head up to Clemson to participate in a wonderful professional development opportunity funded by the Mellon Foundation, the Civic Engagement & Voting Rights Teacher Scholars Program. Huzzah!
once again I delight in telling an audience of international students all about the Pizza Hut Book It Program - a favorite literacy sponsor of my own I mention when teaching Brandt’s Sponsors of Literacy.
A recent multimodal composition I created to help teach… ✨
My favorite part of Spotify is getting absolutely roasted by some algorithm at least once a week. 💀
