Best thing I can think to tell you is to just accept the kindness if it's someone you trust and don't be overly critical of the way you look. Just the fact that you try and work out shows you care. Small steps! Just keep working on yourself and think of the bigger picture.

I empathize with the sentiment, to an extent. I used to be underweight until a while ago. Some friends have remarked on the way I look now since I started working out consistently and eating better. "Devon, you're huge now!" and the like, but sometimes I feel it's just that I've put on weight.

What reason would you have not to trust them? Is it because you feel like it might be an empty platitude?
