Black and white photo of multiple layers of sloping sand dunes. A lone bush in the foreground and a lone person in the background at the top of the dune, silhouetted against the cloudy sky. Taken in Death Valley National Park at the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes

How you dune?
Sometimes the wind wins. This is all I got of a timelapse of the Milky Way rising before I called it quits. Temp was mid-40s and the wind was strong enough to rock my car so I didn’t trust leaving my camera setup. Win some/lose some.
Ansel Adams In Joshua Tree National Monument, California, from Portfolio Two: The National Parks and Monuments, 1942; printed 1950
The original (via SFMOMA):
Black and white photo of a rock formation in Joshua Tree National Park that not coincidentally looks like Ansel Adam's "In Joshua Tree National Monument, California" photo from 1942
My best attempt at recreating an 80+ year old Ansel Adams photo in JTNP!
Photo of a desert landscape strewn with large boulders at sunset. The sky is filled with higher altitude clouds that are shades of pink and blue while the lower altitude clouds are white and fluffy. A classic Joshua Tree National Park outhouse stands in the foreground.
Another entry for Scenic Outhouses of the Mojave Desert
He eventually gave up on the rabbit (who was hiding in a bush about 30ft away) but ate something off the ground. No clue what it was.
This evening I watched the sunset from the top of a pile of boulders in Joshua Tree while a coyote tracked a rabbit down on the ground below. I don’t think he even realized I was watching him!
Enjoying a cloudy day in Joshua Tree National Park
Which astronaut do you think is already out of their seat trying to get their luggage out of the overhead bin?

IT’S GETTING BIGGER!!
Bright yellow flowers of a Palo verde tree with a blue sky in the background
A bee on a bright yellow flower of a palo verde tree
A large bee of some sort, I don’t know I’m not a entomologist, flying around the bright yellow flowers of a palo verde tree
Our palo verde tree is blooming like never before and all the bees in town know it!
A beloved stuffed raccoon in the front seat of a car with his seat belt securely fastened.
Can relate. We lucked out and had a friend, who happened to be making the drive, chauffeur it home.
Sometimes you may feel like there’s no one there for you, but you know who’s always there for you? Laundry. Laundry will always be there for you
If you see this, I implore you to post a picture from whatever device you’re using with no explanation
Earthquake! Woken up by a shaking house. Currently saying it was a 5.0. earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...
The sun sets over the Pacific Ocean with an orange glow. Golden light falls on sand as waves roll in
Sunset from another day…
Photo of the moon against the blue sky, taken through the viewfinder of a cheap telescope with my iPhone!
Free telescope from the neighborhood buy nothing group means more moon photos!
You wouldn’t believe the Jira UI I’ve been building just for me. I may have to use the backend but the hell with the horrible constantly changing frontend.
This one? bsky.app/profile/edra...
Not everyone would, but that’s what makes it so magical when you’re in the dark by yourself in the middle of the night
Photo of the Golden Gate Bridge from Baker Beach. The beach is crowded, the ocean is calm, and the sky is blue. A Coast Guard helicopter flies over the water.
One of those rare beach days in San Francisco. Did not suck. But now I am sunburnt.

At some point I’ll allow myself to put this on my car… in the meantime I’ll keep watching this video whenever it appears in my feed.
