Generator interconnection models typically represent system states that have precisely 0% likelihood to ever exist, and billions of dollars are cost-allocated using them. Is this a good approach?

Very excited to have joined PowerGEM earlier this year. The leadership are building something truly special in the grid simulation space, and at an opportune time. Can't wait to see (and work on) the synergies, services, and products that will surely move this industry forward.
Very much agree generally with the approaches in CA/NYISO being applied elsewhere. In general, improvements around modeling assumptions in interconnection study power flow model are needed. Worst-case, extremely low probability interconnection models are both hang-ups and highly unrealistic.
Greetings! Glad to be here. I’ll probably post primarily about electric power systems and jazz guitar, and maybe some beagle content, too. Looking forward to some good discussion and engagement on this platform.
