1. Trump has weaponized the FCC to control the media under his autocratic rule. Now, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is turning the agency towards his next target: transgender characters in TV shows.
He seeks to change the rating system to penalize trans characters.

It continues to amaze me how common this can be. So many cars I've seen like this on this channel. So many cars treated like trash cans and fillled with junk.

Yeah...
Though it doesn't help that the US's closest ally Israel is assisting with the war and is committing genocide, and the US has been actively funding it for decades.
GOP - *gerrymanders*
DEMS - hey stop that no fair
GOP - *gerrymanders even more*
DEMS - we mean it we’re gonna sue
SCOTUS - *legalizes gerrymandering completely*
DEMS - *start gerrymandering*
GOP - HEY STOP THAT NO FAIR!!!! 😭
Little wonder also why the war in Iran is going the way it is. It's almost like, when you go on the offensive, the other side responds with their defense. This is playing out more and more in so many different policies in Trump 2.0.
Trump: If we tariff other countries, they won't tariff us.
*Other countries put tariffs on the US*
*Pikachu face*
Trump: If we gerrymander, the radical left won't gerrymander us.
*Democratic-controlled states gerrymander*
*Pikachu face*
The ignorance from Trump remains astounding.
Image of a Virginia Democrats' proposed congressional map that is drawn to elect a ten-to-one Democratic majority and flip four Republican seats in 2026. The district lines are displayed over top of a basemap with major roads and cities labeled. The districts are colored by the 2024 presidential winner's margin of victory, with Kamala Harris districts in blue and Donald Trump districts in red. Darker shades represent larger margins of victory. An embedded chart shows the 2024 presidential election results and the adult population racial demographics in each district. Harris won 10 of the 11 districts, with Trump winning just a single district in western Virginia. Black voters would retain their ability to elect their preferred candidates in Districts 3 and 4, which remain safely Democratic.
Breaking (🧵): Virginia has PASSED a referendum that would let Dems redraw the congressional map for 2026 in response to new GOP gerrymanders in other states (pending VA Supreme Court review).
It targets 4 Rs to elect a 10-1 Dem majority.

Worth noting the Maiden Japan Blu-ray is an upscale, the show didn't air in HD and no Blu-ray exists in Japan. The upscale is not good, the show is plagued with some pretty bad banding, also some ghosting issues, though the ghosting is more noticeable via fast forward/reverse.
Guess it's The Bad Witch of the West...
This seems to be one of those adaptations that tried to cover too much of the source material into too small of a space. The plot is quite hard to follow due to the poor pacing (way too fast) + many off-screen reveals.
Completed watching The Good Witch of the West, rated 4/10 #AnimePlanet

After doing a quick comparison for Episodes 3 and 4, feeling a bit similar. FUNimation's got the better script, Ocean has better casting and performances.
I was quite attached to the Ocean dub as that was through my first viewing back in 2012 when it became my all-time favorite anime.
Curious how much better the Anime Limited Blu-ray is. The banding in those darker scenes on the FUNimation Blu-ray at times...
The most immediately noticeable color banding is always the beginning of the ED when Van's glove glows, it's impossible to miss.
I guess I'll try to rewatch the Ocean dub sometime next year, maybe once I finally get a region-free Blu-ray player so I can finally watch the Anime Limited Blu-ray I've owned for close to a decade. My first two viewings were through the Super Legends DVD, all others are FUNi CE.
I feel like I'm beginning to prefer Caitlin Glass's Hitomi over Kelly Sheridan's, though Maaya Sakamoto is who I liked best for Hitomi.
Lastly, the minor characters weren't a weakness for these episodes compared to the first one.
Doing a quick comparison as I haven't done a full viewing of the Ocean dub in 9.5 years, while I generally like most of the performances in the Ocean dub better, I feel the FUNimation dub has the better script, though I didn't compare either to the Japanese script.
Currently what may be the hardest to get into, Vic's Folken, especially given how Paul Dobson and Jouji Nakata were fantastic as him. I wonder how I'll feel once I get to those late episodes.
Don't like Vic as a person, but that's not factoring into how I feel here.
I guess I'm too used to Shinichiro Miki's performance from my most recent viewing.
Not too sure how I feel about Joel McDonald's Delandau compared to Andrew Francis and Minami Takayama.
Episodes 2-4 fared much better for the dub. It's still taking me a while to get used to Aaron Dismuke's Van, mainly when Van is angry. When he's doing the more calm lines, it fares a lot better.
Sonny Strait's Allen was a bit awkward for me at first, but I'm warming up to it.
5 months later I'm now starting my 5th viewing of The Vision of Escaflowne, and for the first time it's through the FUNimation dub.
After Episode 1, the minor characters, kind of iffy on them. Van, not too sure how I feel about some of the line delivery. Hitomi? Quite good.
Easiest one to get on is BakaBT. Nyaa, you don't need an account to download or seed, you need an account only to upload torrents and to make comments.
Tom Steyer's 2026 gubernatorial campaign website on the issues section. At the very bottom is this: MAKE SURE ALL CALIFORNIANS BENEFIT FROM AI For generations, people have built their fortunes in California. But those fortunes should never come at the expense of working people. Here in the state that made AI possible, we win as a team – or not at all. As the risks and opportunities of this technology come into clearer focus, it’s more important than ever for California to have courageous leaders at the helm. We can’t let the AI era leave workers behind the way globalization left auto and manufacturing workers behind in the last century. We need to invest in tools that support and empower workers, not replace them. Because the California dream doesn’t work without work. Tom believes that the people who stand to profit the most from this technology shouldn’t be making the rules about how it is used. Otherwise, the AI era will be another boom for billionaires – and a bust for everyone else. As governor, Tom will stand behind companies that lead with integrity. He’ll create more of the jobs humans do best. He will make sure all Californians profit from the AI boom. He’ll expand opportunities for companies beyond the biggest and most powerful few. And he’ll put safeguards in place to hold every company accountable for keeping Californians safe.
Going back to Tom Steyer who seemed to be the least toxic of the three Democrat frontrunners, this seemed okay until you get to this. Gawdammit...

Worth noting there's a Green Party candidate on the ballot, Butch Ware who got Nina Turner's endorsement, but people don't like voting third-party.
Still remember when a race for US House was between a bad Democrat and a Green, and people still overwhelming picked the Democrat.
Didn't like or trust Eric Swalwell before, he seems slimey as Gavin Newsom, and after seeing these allegations against him, oh boy.
I swear, so many times you can take one look at the face of a politician and it's "yep, they're probably scum".
So, looks like the governor of California may end up being Tom Steyer if the runoff doesn't end up being two Republicans because like 9,000 Democrats are running at once.
Maybe California should implement ranked-choice voting and other reforms to avoid such a scenario.
It embraced its absurdity, it had that "ZOMG ANIME!!!" energy that I quite like which became much less common in the 2010s vs. the 2000s.
In articles pointing out how stuff gets fixed for the Blu-rays (as many anime fans still don't know), it was one of the shows that got highlighted a good amount as it had a bunch of fixes. One of those articles was on Kotaku.
The show wasn't good, it was a "so bad it's good" show for me.
The Green Lantern TV cartoon got cancelled because of that mindset.

not enough of y'all know that it used to be illegal for media to advertise to children. reagan (because of course it was reagan) deregulated advertising and that's why so many cartoons in the 80s and 90s were glorified toy commercials. and yet, talented creators pulled art out of that system anyway!
THE POWERPUFF GIRLS WAS SUPER POPULAR WITH YOUNG BOYS WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE
