The entire show is perfect but the climax of the first episode with the banner is maybe the funniest sitcom moment I’ve ever watched. I still don’t entirely understand how they pulled it off with how they make the show.

@joelastname.bsky.social did you end up watching the Vice TV NTBTS yet? Or is still hard to find since they nuked it from the Internet Archive?

"Another glorious day at Milan Cortina for the Olympic Games! I'm Buck Laughlin, joined by Trevor Beckwith—Trevor have you ever driven a Milan Cortina?"

"...I, I don't think—"

"Great mileage, needs a roomier back seat. Gas grass or 'uh-oh,' nobody rides for free. Trevor Beckwith, your thoughts."

@joelastname.bsky.social there’s a joke in the first episode of NTBTS that I honestly think is a Sitcom Hall Of Fame worthy moment. I cannot recommend the show enough.

You can see a world where someone writes “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen but for board games” and he’s a romantic d'Artagnan type. Boasts about besting Col. Mustard in a fencing duel. It practically writes itself.

He was never a primary driver of the action obviously, I would usually slot him into ancillary roles, both good and evil depending on the context. Villain leader, President giving out orders, pro wrestling commentator, etc

My dad has one of those weird old guy grudges against Ed Asner to this day because he opposed Vietnam, brings it up whenever the subject comes up. Made it difficult to watch Freakazoid in the living room as a child.

My grandpa’s first cousin was MTM. Her side of the family did not interact at all with his so I have no personal connection to her but it’s a fun fact I can pull at parties.

I think your review brought up a lot of salient, respectable points that did not personally affect my enjoyment of the movie.
