RECOMPENSE Project An Open Science platform for DIY protocols to use upcycled Polystyrene waste in Organic Synthesis

One aspect I’m especially proud of:

Our Open Science platform + educational videos, created through a genuine co‑creation model where staff, MSc students, and undergrad students work as equal partners. This is what sustainable chemistry education should look like.

What did we achieve?

We developed a method to upcycle waste polystyrene from our teaching labs into catalysts for organic synthesis, demonstrating their use in Friedel–Crafts reactions. ♻️⚗️
