This is not wrong.

A healthy Mike Trout season with him playing at 2012-2022 levels would make me so happy.

Off to a terrific start this year so far.

That feels like not a great use of a roster spot.

Tough to watch. And no outs even! The runner ended up safe on the what-should-have-been-sacrifice bunt. 😬

A tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads: “When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.”

Apparently the Pope has read Baudrillard.

none of these words actually mean anything, right?

Some of the Pittsburgh downtown beautification work today has a real cramming-before-the-test vibe.

A quick coat of white paint over the graffiti at the long-neglected and rusted-out Mon Wharf stairway at Wood St. is funny to me.

It seems when Bo Burnham sang "Twenty-thousand years of this, seven more to go" in 2021 he was pretty much literally correct.

I would *hope* that an obviously unstable American president ordering the use of nuclear weapons would trigger a revolt of the generals.

Obviously a military coup here in the United States would be disastrous but the use of nuclear weapons would be exponentially worse.

“Sorry, we have no choice but to let the dying pedophile in charge of our party destroy the constitution and threaten nuclear war“ is the official position of the Republican Party.

What a bunch of pathetic cucks.

Seeing some Earth photos circulating virally on socials that do not appear to be from the official Artemis feed.

Not sure the point - the real photos are already stunning - but I think people should be careful not to share unsourced images.

Point remains, though, that the shorter exposure is closer to what it actually “looked like” to the naked eye.

If the distinction matters in terms of enhancement/false representation, metadata suggests they are 2 successive photos taken with different camera settings:

the darker one with 1/15 Exposure, 5.6 F Number,

the lighter and more compelling one taken 19 seconds later with 1/4 Exposure, 4 F Number

A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)

Video

If all goes according to plan, in a few hours, a crew of astronauts will begin a journey that will take them on a loop around the moon. Here's a video that NASA put together to help people visualize the journey through space, first orbiting the earth before looping around the moon and flying home 🔭

Totally agree. They should be accounting for whatever the estimated margin of error is for the tool, and the ball should need to be in the zone (or not of the zone) by more than that amount for an overturn.

Akin to the “clear and convincing” level of evidence for other challenges.

How are so many replies taking this seriously/negatively? Are people not watching the actual clip, or are they just woefully unable to detect sarcasm and people joking around?

Oh man these rock. Worst thing a City Connect can be is boring (as most are). The unique ones understand the assignment.

What’s the difference between Iran and Vietnam?

Trump had a plan to get out of Vietnam.
