So weird. We studied critical thinking for years (some did) only to give our power to oligarchs? That won’t end well

I can't quite believe (a) how quickly so many people started outsourcing their decision-making and critical thinking to machines owned by psychopathic oligarchs, and (b) how quickly that made everyone really, really dumb.
Thanks Margaret!
Yep. Also every show and movie and game where the CIA or FBI saves the world is trying to make you dumb.
Definitely that! AI music is one. Think of the consciousness shifting revelations that come from falling in love with a John Lennon song, or Rage Against the Machine, or Bob Marley, etc. And filling the airwaves with soulless, apolitical mush resembling music means that awakening happens less often.
Yesss! And further, the knowledge on how to develop this skill is deliberately cultivated out of us, or kept from us.

A fantastic chat covering a lot & the overall message was hope. Remember hope? Appalling things continue but some anti-tyranny things happened too. As Dave, our human barometer, noted re the NSW Court of Appeal decision: 'We shouldn't understate how historic this win is for our civil liberties.' ✌️🙌✌️
That's a good question, but probably one for a lawyer!
More upbeat chat than usual this week,
on account of a few good things happening! Great guests with
@paulbongiorno.bsky.social and @auspoldaily.bsky.social. It's a low bar, but it'll make you less angry/dumb than Insiders.
@davemilbo.bsky.social and the crew @ the shot bring home the goods for another week.
Nice to see Paul Bongiorno on the stream #Auspol

A victory for democracy.
So of course establishment media has focused on Minns' "next steps" in suppressing dissent, as if it is normal governing.
And ignored his fascism on behalf of the Israel lobby.
The ABC says Minns is 'considering his options'.
Resigning should be at the top of the list.
Lawyer Nick Hanna and the Palestine Action Group celebrating outside court today
NSW's fascistic anti-protest laws, enacted after Bondi and to allow Isaac Herzog, a war criminal, to tour without opposition, have been defeated in court today. The Appeals court found the laws "impermissibly burden" implied constitutional rights. From the river to the sea.
I feel like this is the first time I've been in a good mood for like... 2 and a half years 😅
Palestinian Action, For As Long As The River To The Sea Needs it!
Something I heard recently that is a slightly different but closely related take: things being more expensive to do was actually _helping_ your company because most of your company's ideas are shit

content warning - precise and devastating account of the huge number of abusers who target children.
An excellent article from Grace Tame for The Shot.
“Ours is a world where child sex offenders are not only living and working among us, they’re cocooning and controlling us in a veil of false comfort woven from the top down. By design, we depend on them.”

A picture of a library shelf with a small rolled up note on it. The note says “read this” in child’s handwriting.
A picture of the note unrolled. In the same child’s handwriting it reads “beware of the future!!”
Still thinking about this note I found in the children’s section of the public library when I worked there back in 2018. This kid tried to warn us…
Netanyahu explaining out loud that he controls the USA
If I go a 40 year stretch churning out utter shit, I hope I am afforded this sort of charity for my early work
I miss my old feed/crew, too. There was no place online like it. It is to be mourned. At different moments it could be hilarious, or you could find kindness, or just somewhere to punch up and troll the worst people in the world. This place doesn't even get close imo.
This is the only time in history I have ever wanted to hear from Greg Sheridan on a topic
For me, that’s accurate, and I only ever watched ABC News and Current Affairs (but not any more).
