Always finding myself in search of more time.

I mean, yeah. Internet is bad for you. Go play N64 or 3DS on the back porch.

Uber ride in Midtown NYC, on a Monday, after only 2 hours of sleep and a 6am flight is like playing passenger to a power drunk sibling playing GTA but somehow managing to not hit any pedestrians.

I need coffee 😪

(Also hi NYC I missed you!)

Honestly I would love a dot matrix setup to print readme’s on. That would be so sick.

Next project coming along nicely. All sorts of new things for this that weren’t needed on the Pit Droid or B1. 😮‍💨

Finally over the programming hump.

Now it’s just tolerances…
And backlash smoothing…
And final assembly…
Aaaaaand then field test.

Or do I just absolutely send it right into the field? 🤔

"Surely not touching my codebase for the droids since June will be fine, I'll boot up and everything will work.", he said beginning to sweat.

"Hm seems okay actu-oh...the Arduino extension for VSCode is deprecated? Use PlatformIO?"

...well this afternoon sucked.

Oh no…

It certainly seems like it but here the best part about small electronics as a hobby: If you ever make a mistake, the magic smoke lets you know and you just swap in another part and go again!

(Also it’s really just math and like, the easy kind!)

Since this is my 1st Battle Droid animatronic I’ll start where I always do! PIR motion sensing, randomized Hor/Vert motions!

I’m toying around on my Pit Droid test bed built on an Nvidia Jetson Nano that’ll do on-device ML but I always stall out when I go to tackle it 😂

The die was cast and the result was “I think I’ll work on the Battle Droid”

Very challenging compared to the Pit Droid, so much that I’m writing a readme as I make mistakes. Not long now though.

…oh god I forgot I have to program it 😩

As someone that knew other kids in college (high school) during the 90's, and then was tutoring kids during the 2000's and 2010's they didn't really understand folders and directories then either.

Plenty of my colleagues and superiors didn't back then either & plenty don't now.

God, can I print this and frame it?

Same concept as “I’ll leave early to beat rush hour!”

>Subsequently creates rush hour.

Never fly RDU before 7am is a lesson I’ve learned twice now.

Boy if that ain’t the damn truth. You get used to the comfy life, so much so that you…start paying for it yourself 😩

Gotta be Ranier. That looks just like my flights into SeaTac used to as a kid. Or are my glasses rose tinted? TELL ME SHIMA!

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

I mean. That’s probably possible.

Oh 100%. Any system in this space (Gridfinity, Multiboard, HexBoard) are far from economical.

It’s absolutely about the “farm to table” (lol) idea. It’s all the result of the hobby but with practical application. The cheapest option? Far from it. Generally more customizable than store bought? 100%

Skadis is fine for most things honestly, never had an issue for anything 3D Printing/Maker related.

That said, in short order I’m hopefully gonna start my Multiboard setup. I supported it early, have printed entire setups, and just never installed 😅

Honestly? When VS Code is open for anything it’s Glitch Mob, Tron Legacy Sountrack, or, for really flow state days a playlist of mine that I can’t really describe. Deep alternative trance?

And for my next trick I’ll show you just how good my analysis paralysis is by spending two months struggling to decide whether I should:

A) Build Gunpla I just bought
B) Finish my animatronic battle droid head
C) Fail both and decide to stay late at work

Man. CES week followed by going right back into work after over a month away really pulls you out of the posting mindset. 😪
